For those of you who had a go at guessing what the photo on my extra album here is your answer.
We had our Aga serviced yesterday & Mick takes the whole thing to bits, replacing wicks & generally giving it a good clean. He said it would have gone longer but sods law it would have decided to break down on Christmas day...better be safe than sorry.
The photo on my extras was of the oil burner part.
Three good things:
1. Some fabulous photos on 365 lately & I am enjoying the new ''trending'' site.
2. I have made a start with Christmas shopping & ordered some stuff online today.
3. Looking forward to a lovely meal out with DIL's family tonight.
Nice domestic tradesman shot. From my past experience when I have our oil fired boiler serviced about a week later it breaks down, only to find that the service engineer we use is away on holiday skiing.
I wonder why we don't have many Agas in the States. From what I've read about them (had to look it up when you first mentioned Aga in a post a year or so ago) they are marvelous appliances. Well built, last for decades, and cook with radiant heat resulting in moister and more flavorful food. Your new red kitchen accents look so fresh and lovely, Pat. You did a wonderful job with those curtains!
Only you can take a photo of your cooker servicing and still make your kitchen look gorgeous! An Aga's on my wish list - do you have an ordinary cooker for summer?
A very wise decision as long as Harry puts all the parts back together again! Heat as well as cooking for the winter. I like the large photos on Trending too!
@jantan Have really looked into an electric one Jan but the trouble with us is we like a warm kitchen & I feel we would have to feel obliged to turn an electric one down. Quite often if there is only us in we just make do with the aga , wood burner & freeze upstairs...if you run from bathroom to bed you don't notice the cold!!! Also this one is of the old drip feed variety & we have a few power cuts in the winter but we are still able to boil a kettle & cook tea.....very interesting to hear your verdict on the new ones though. They are just the heart of the home though don't you think?
@judithg I have an electric cooker at the other end of the kitchen which also has two hob halogen rings....I very rarely use the oven though but tend to use the hob when cooking breakfast for guests.
@peggysirk Thank you Peggy & good for you remembering my new curtains. The Aga is the invention of the angels...so cosy to have in the house...they do sell them in the States but expensive over here never mind over where you are ! ours was second-hand 14 years ago but they do last forever! I have always lived in a house with either a solid fuel oven or oil one.
looks a complicated job Pat.....did you have to turn it off before the 'engineer arrived' ...my mum has an aga and she had to switch it off the night before the engineer arrived so it was cold enough for him to service ...the engineer came from Preston !
