The Comedy Carpet in Blackpool was a attracting lots of attention the other day.
Even on a winters day...perhaps more so as people like a bit of fun!
Three good things:
1. Cathy has cast her eye over my pile of clothes for the suitcase & chucked lots out. ''You don't need this mum...this will be too warm....this doesn't go with this'! I was glad to have her input but will still need the bigger case...so much stuff to take for children, birthday presents etc.
2. A lovely meet up & meal this lunchtime with my little group of five friends.
3. I had forgotten Cathy owed me some money!!
Great shot and LOVE your No 1! I remember hearing someone say on the radio (after our trip to Melbourne!) that it was good to make a list of all the things in your case that you actually wore when you were away and don't take more that the next time!!
Looks a bit gloomy, We are having a bit of grey weather at the moment so hope it picks up by next weekend.. I like # 3 has happened to me before aswell...
@fueast It's a fantastic area of marble type flooring full of opld music hall jokes ....the type Morecambe & Wise & Tommy Cooper would say. Words of old traditional songs & different sayings by famous people. It all fits together in a sort of mosaic right in front of the tower on the prom....I can see you must pay a visit!
Sounds fascinating - this Carpet! Never heard of it and I like your POV with this photograph! In NZ at the moment you often need to change clothes 3 times during the day with the differing weather changes! You need a warm jersey!
Lovely nostalgic shot, love the processing.....Are you coming to nz? Whereabouts? Loads of photo ops everywhere you go...I look forward to seeing your photos!
How interesting - never seen a comedy carpet before! Pat, I know you are off to New Zealand - think you said 12th - and I don't want to miss wishing you a fab time so I'm saying it now - really exciting and do enjoy every minute!
@ourrube Yes Ruby...flying on the 12th February....you are from NZ too must check your profile. We are having a wee 365 meet up in North Island...don't know if you are following any of us.
@ourrube JUst checked Ruby...you are following @andreajoy, @juliamaioro, @dide....I am hoping to meet all those ladies on the 24th Feb at Nicau Cave Cafe if you are interested & live anywhere near ther you are most welcome.A lady named Karen who is friends with Julz & Diane is coming too. We are hoping Andrea will be well enough to make it.
I would be really keen to meet you all, that would be great....is anyone else from Auckland....plz let me know details and time and I will endeavor to be there, it would be fun :)
When I saw the shot I thought they were skating at first! Lovely idea. I am a great list maker when packing and can do a ten day holiday somewhere warm with a cabin bag only!
A wonderful shot, Pat! Love the idea of comedy carpet and the fun reactions from it. Only three days until you are on your way to NZ!!! From the comments here it sounds like you are going to meeting up with a lot of 365ers...how great!! And I love your #1 TGT...I would love to have a stylist/packer to help with holiday wardrobe selection. My daughter, Elizabeth, fills that role on occasion and she's very good at it. :)
@ourrube Just finalising details Ruby...will let you know on here . Are you on FB? Google Nicau Cave Cafe in the meantime, that is where we are meeting up. It's a bit out of the way so you would have to check it out first.
@ourrube Lovely Ruby....Andrea would prefer the 28th so just waiting to have a word with DIL about dates & I will give you arrangements on FB so you can decide.
Love the shapes on the prom Pat. Are the curvy structures lights ? There's two big hearts in the sky too. A very modern Blackpool skyline. I've been scanning some of my late Dad's negatives today and I've got some Blackpool prom pics from the 1960's (south shore). Deck chairs 9d deposit 6d total charge 1'3d. Max hire 4 hours (or as council determine) ...deposits refunded by attendant to hirer when chair and ticket returned within specified period. Neither the chair or ticket issued are transferable :)
@phil_howcroft Oh dear |I remember those days too Phil. The deck chairs used to be stacked under tarpaulins at the top of the steps. You used to give your money & cart the darn things down to the beach & then back up at the end. Stripy old fashioned chairs & men used to sit with knotted hankies on their heads....this was when I was VERY small mind you!!
@ourrube Hi Ruby our meeting is on the 28th February now ...12 noon ish at the Nicau Cave cafe....would be lovely if you could make it.....perhaps see you there !!
@ourrube Change of plan Ruby...now the 24th unfortunately Andrea can't make it but if you still can manage it would be great....12 noon on the 24tth Cave cafe.
I am afraid I can't make it either, such a shame but have to work....still there will be other opportunities no doubt...have a great time, I look forward to the pics...I'm in Auckland if you get up this way... :)
