I had almost decided I would have to resort to a filler today. Turned out wet & I hadn't got the mojo to go out & take anything new in the photo line.
I went to the post office to post a Superman comic for Max....cost me £5.35!..........I must be completely losing it to spend so much but that is having grandchildren for you!!
Anyway as I was sitting in the car about to set off who rolled into view but this guy in a nice line of shorts!
This shot is a bit doctored as the original is two photos but the one with the red post box in sight had the man in the shorts in front of a friend so a little bit of licence here!
Sad news re ducklings...mummy duck arrived about 8am this morning minus any ducklings at all......daddy might possibly be baby sitting them on the pond but more likely they have all been taken by the crows.
I wished I had never shown you them now...such a sad ending
Three good things:
1. It has only started raining this afternoon so Lydia has had good weather for her camping trip.
2. Chocolate egg is so delicious!
3. The front beech hedge is coming into leaf.
great set of reds here Pat...and big sobs to the duckings...
I've loaded a couple of climbing shots from Ecuador especially for you...might be a while till my shoulder's able to cope with climbing so nice for me to reminisce too!
Ahh. great doctoring and why not? Plenty of shots on here, including my own are tinkered with all of the time ;-) So sad about the ducklings, what a shame. Can't believe the PO can charge that just for a comic, wherever it's going! Ridiculous!
Love the red shorts reflecting the redistribution box. Looks like he popped out briefly! Yes sad about the ducklings, I once rescued 14 all lost in our next village, I searched for their mum and eventually found her. I was so pleased but one by one they diminished! I think that is why they have so many as very few make it. Perhaps dad is babysitting.
@lucypics no Lucy sadly not....they both came for food this evening but no babies. I must say mum didn't seem to be too bothered but I suppose how does one tell!! I was going to walk back with them to the pond if there had been survivors to keep those darn crows away!
You did say not to count them!!
@lucypics oh dear I spoke too soon..have just looked out of the kitchen window in the half light & mummy & daddy duck are standing there looking up at the window....feeling sad!
@happypat I have learnt by experience, they are such tiny dots when they hatch and easy prey. I am actually pleased our two haven't reared any. Don't be too sad, unfortunately it is nature!
Dreadfully sad about the little ducklings, maybe someone else had the idea and has rescued them - I like to live in hope and we have your pics to remember them by:0)
This is a cracking shot, 'enhancing' absolutely allowed
Thats very clever merging the shots- can't see a seam anywhere! I laugh to think of anyone I know wearing these sort of shorts! I love the red post box in the white wall. Hard to miss! Poor Mother Duck! ....and awful for you seeing and knowing!
Well this is a great composition Pat but I'm feeling bereft now I've read your blurb. Time for another clutch but then you need a great big crow proof cage :(((((
Oh no I am sad too. I was loving your daily shots as was my mum...
I put 3 postcards and a pen from Hobbiton to a lady in Russia (Postcrossing project) and cost me $13. The items only cost $4. Don't ask me why I sent it still, I don't know. 😝
Interesting shot. At least the chap is colour coordinated. Sorry to hear about the ducks. We have the same problem here with blue tongue lizards. We had one who was born in our garden and visited for about 13 years and gave birth to about 10 live young each year following. She became very tame and we fed her every time she visited. She used to hibernate under our log shed during the winter too. Once they have given birth the babies are on their own and only a few survive because the kookaburra's eat them. Sadly the mum blue tongue didn't appear this year and I suspect she was probably run over by a car.
We used to have similar tribulations with the goslings. They just never seemed to make it. One year the swans literally trashed their nest and murdered them (nests too close together, but it didn't kick off til they'd both hatched), other times the gulls just picked them off. :-(
Oh WOW and red shorts of course. ( Is it shorts' weather? I'm not sure!)

They sure know how to dress in style in your bit of Lancs Pat !
