Apple tasting by happypat

Apple tasting

A fantastic display of different sorts of British apples ready to taste & also to buy the trees if you so wish.
I never knew there were so many varieties!

Three good things:
1. I have collected the Easter card, sweets & biscuits that one of my NZ daughters in law sent back with her mum last April!
2. Lovely home made soup.
3. My junction of the M61 was just as the queue for the M60 started....I was able to slip off the motorway without any delay.
How cool that you can buy the tree. We don't do anything like that around here that I know of. Great shot of the event.

Your shot has suddenly triggered a memory for me of walking with my sister and grandad over the fields to see a Mrs Syer who had apple orchards. I remember eating too many tempting apples and not feeling too well! Like the shot.

Thats the way to get people growing fruit trees! What a good idea. We have a group of apple growers growing the old fashioned apples and encouraging the public. Found a lot of 100 year old abandoned plots around NZ and taken the seed to grow. I'm now eating apples in smoothies as I couldn't eat a whole one - it tasted worse than a lemon to me! Lovely picture just to see all this!

@sarah19 there are so many varieties Sallie. The trouble is & I'm ashamed to say this we grow some of our own apples but prefer the shop ones! Ours don't look tempting somehow....I am not a great fruit eater I prefer veg myself! Smoothies sound a good idea @maggiemae

Mmm nice - my neighbour's tree is full of pears at the moment - might have to go and scrump some - or I could just ask him!
October 25th, 2014
@judithg he'll be glad to get rid of them...funny how when you have fruit trees you are obliged to eat everything & feel guilty when you see them rotting on the branches!

Love this shot - Old aples have such interesting names too, such as Nonnetit Bastard and Peasgood's Nonsuch.
