Back to back

Anyone who knows Preston well will recognise Miller Arcade.
A beautiful arcade it is sadly little used now. In the Preston I remember as a child this was a bustling through way with many thriving shops.
I used to walk through here to & from the bus station to school.
Of course in those days it was t as pretty as it is now.
This end of the town is a little run down but hopefully with the proposed massive update of the old listed bus station & the Guild Hall this lovely arcade will become a hive of activity once again.

Three good things:
1. The smell of chicken wrapped in bacon frying.
2. I have written my Chrustmas present list.
3. A message from Max on the answer phone ......the word actually was used several times!
Lovely rich colours and patterns in this shot and love the composition of 'back to back'

Lovely "street" shot - I like the perspective of the red tiles and the reds generally picked up.

Great candid - I really like the back to back composition.

What's on your present list? How's your camera? I've mostly bought. My preside list.....well it's all a big dreaming list revolving around cameras. Hubby had asked sammy what they should buy mummy. Sammy said a pretty dress. So they took me shopping on Saturday so sammy could chose a dress. Was it wise it take a 5 year old boy as my chief fashion consultant? I got a warm knitted pink dress.

@newbank well,I didnt really mean my list Ruth, it's for the presents I have to buy!! My list ...well I could put a few things on it...another lens, zoom this time but generally speaking I have everything I want. You don't find you need much when you get older. When I was your age I wanted lots of stuff but could never afford anything then you have a bit more money & you don't want much! Sod's law!

November 10th, 2014
@happypat I realised that on second viewing.... But had asked by then. I don't want much either really. Much more about the boys.

Lovely "street" shot....love those old doors.

@quietpurplehaze yes it was taken with my new lense Hazel but to be honest my original lens would have taken this just as well.......haven't had time to get to grips with my new one yet though I have it on my camera all the time. I took one today which has quite good DOF but only practising yet.

Fabulous capture of the back-to-back benches. Everyone in their own little world.
November 10th, 2014
This photo is really fun to study. If there is a renovation, I hope they keep the beautiful wood framing, wonderful tile floor, and charming benches, back to back.
November 10th, 2014
@cejaanderson they won't Reno ate this arcade Jane as its beautiful already but the general area around it needs updating.

November 10th, 2014
Great street scene. I like the low pov and the floor is wonderful.
November 10th, 2014
Lovely shot and I love the flooring. Hope it does get a bit of a revival. They keep trying to revive the centre of Newcastle (NSW) as a shopping area but some of the area is so run down. I think it will just be brought up to date with apartments, hotels and restaurants along the wharf rather than with shops though.

I like your POV for this nice candid shot
November 11th, 2014
Yes the floor is great. in fact I like the whole picture
November 11th, 2014
A lovely shot - you must've been nearly lying on the floor to get this pov!
November 11th, 2014
@dide I was sitting on another bench lower down Dianne,,.i think it slopes slightly too if I remember.
November 11th, 2014
Fab shot from there - you don't show much but still instantly recognisable. It is a mystery to me why it isn't used more but Preston seems finally to be undergoing a lot of work so fingers crossed.
November 11th, 2014
