Anyone who knows Preston well will recognise Miller Arcade.
A beautiful arcade it is sadly little used now. In the Preston I remember as a child this was a bustling through way with many thriving shops.
I used to walk through here to & from the bus station to school.
Of course in those days it was t as pretty as it is now.
This end of the town is a little run down but hopefully with the proposed massive update of the old listed bus station & the Guild Hall this lovely arcade will become a hive of activity once again.
Three good things:
1. The smell of chicken wrapped in bacon frying.
2. I have written my Chrustmas present list.
3. A message from Max on the answer phone ......the word actually was used several times!
What's on your present list? How's your camera? I've mostly bought. My preside list.....well it's all a big dreaming list revolving around cameras. Hubby had asked sammy what they should buy mummy. Sammy said a pretty dress. So they took me shopping on Saturday so sammy could chose a dress. Was it wise it take a 5 year old boy as my chief fashion consultant? I got a warm knitted pink dress.
@newbank well,I didnt really mean my list Ruth, it's for the presents I have to buy!! My list ...well I could put a few things on it...another lens, zoom this time but generally speaking I have everything I want. You don't find you need much when you get older. When I was your age I wanted lots of stuff but could never afford anything then you have a bit more money & you don't want much! Sod's law!
@quietpurplehaze yes it was taken with my new lense Hazel but to be honest my original lens would have taken this just as well.......haven't had time to get to grips with my new one yet though I have it on my camera all the time. I took one today which has quite good DOF but only practising yet.
@newbank Indeed you get your pleasures from watching their faces & getting the house looking good plus making a lovely time for family ...us so en don't want much!
This photo is really fun to study. If there is a renovation, I hope they keep the beautiful wood framing, wonderful tile floor, and charming benches, back to back.
Lovely shot and I love the flooring. Hope it does get a bit of a revival. They keep trying to revive the centre of Newcastle (NSW) as a shopping area but some of the area is so run down. I think it will just be brought up to date with apartments, hotels and restaurants along the wharf rather than with shops though.
Fab shot from there - you don't show much but still instantly recognisable. It is a mystery to me why it isn't used more but Preston seems finally to be undergoing a lot of work so fingers crossed.
Good luck and I'm interested to see how you get on.
