I spent the morning doing my pre Christmas clean of the dresser in the kitchen.
It's just amazing how much stuff ends up on there...everything gets proped up on the shelves. Drawings from grandchildren, invitations, bits & prices I want to keep, they all end up there during the year.
Sometimes I can't see the wood for the trees!!
It shines now & is much tidier.
I have been bombarded with Christmas songs ....Smooth radio which I like to listen to has got a new title on my DAB radio.....Smooth Xmas....not sure how long they can keep playing Christmas stuff...must be on a loop system.
I did like it today but it's only November for goodness sake!
Three good things:
I have discovered things that I look at but don't actuall see! Hope that makes sense?
2. Hot pot in the oven.
3. Harry has had his stitches out.
Yes I couldnt believe how many Christmas adverts there were in the tv breaks last week. Love this shot, says home and comfort. Did you buy the joy mug on your visit.
I am really looking forward to the Easter advertisements too, which will probably start any day now, and then we'll know that summer is only half a year away ... and then before we know it, it will be Christmas again. But at least the advertising industry adds a few million pounds/dollars to its over-stuffed piggy bank, which keeps the economy growing (or do I mean groaning?)
So nice to get rid of clutter I do the same here in the dining room !! You talk about carols on the radio I received my 1st Christmas card on Sat !! I haven't sorted mine out yet !!
I have that garland, I put it up on my mirror in the hall, I love it but last year the lights gave out so I bought a string of lights and twined them round my gems. Too nice to throw away.
Sounds like the bookshelf in our kitchen. It got a good clear out a few weeks ago. Best last week though was my hubby got a tape to MP3 converter when he rummaged through boxes of tapes found 30 pounds!!
@debbie3108 I haven't had it on much just for that reason alone......it's really pretty & perhaps if one bulb goes they all go out! First time it's been on since last Christmas & I'll probably leave it again until a special time.
Everytime I see these pottery items I start singing "Joy to the World"! I better get my Christmas songs out to practice even though we don't normally sing at Christmas. I just like them. Nice selection for the photo!
Ooh you're on a roll with cosy Christmas shots. I'm really getting in the mood. Just checked the bank account though so I must rein in! Dreading the John Lewis bill though I did treat myself to a new Emma Bridgewater mug - I tell Nigel it's to keep Stoke going!
I like you have a dresser full of bits and pieces, and have spent part of the day empting it as it is one of the pieces of furniture we will not be taking to our new house.
Beautiful shot. I see you bought some of the Joy pottery. Know what you mean about Christmas carols. Luckily they haven't started playing them yet in our shopping centre. Christmas decorations up, but nobody is murdering Silent Night yet.
@onewing no Babs this is an old one......I bought two wine glasses ...a glass storm lantern with candle for Cathy, various small mugs etc but no Joy pottery. A Joy oven glove & tea towel for the Aga & I spent Cathys birthday money for her
@happypat We have just brought a new sideboard to go with the new table( we had to get a smaller one,)I think we will put shelves over the side board as I like to have a place to put things on view.We have had to part with alot of furniture , it will not all fit in our new house
Well if you are downsizing that makes sense. It wil all look lovely I am sure....quite exciting I think! Looking forward to seeing it all tremendously...you are our prototype!
@happypat , I have a black and white photo, will take some more.
My wedding china was her plum china which she did for John Lewis before she started her business in Stoke. Early days. I go to a gym competition every year in Stoke and get something from her factory outlet. Have only broken two mugs and chipped one plate and one bowl in 25 years, not bad going. Thanks for follow.
This is lovely! I spent the day cleaning (I dismantled the hanging light fixtures) and decorating for the holidays. I usually don't do it quite so early but I was in the mood!
@neatz that plum china will be worth a bob or two, my daughter in law had a sauce boat & saucer from the early days ...not the plum one as I have a bit of that but one from about the same time...she sold it for £75! I lied the early stuff. I hardly ever use mine except a very large plum platter I use for the turkey & some large bowls I use more in the summer. Years ago......must have been 25 a shop in Slaidburn used to sell seconds & we used to go there & buy loads, so cheap now when I look back. EB stopped her selling it in the end, she was doing a roaring trade even in those days! You do well with the breakages! It was the first timers have been to her Stoke place.
@kwind Once you get in the mood you are away! @cejaanderson I will Jane but don't start decorating for Christmas for a good while yet! @dide No Dianne nothing new here! Oh except. Little mug with Harrys name on it.....will show the whole dresser nearer Christmas!
Love the mug Pat and the POV makes me want to see the rest of the dresser it looks so pretty. My son and my husband both have birthdays this week so Christmas is banned in this house until those celebrations are over.
