Not my table but the table in the Emma Bridgewater cafe last Saturday.
Can you ee the spotty Aga @lucypics, its massive, all those ovens!
On the stove are pans with mulled wine & on the table mince pies - it looks very inviting doesn't it?
I seem to be in a Christmas mode at the moment but I can asure you that my house has no decoration up yet but is a winter house I feel so does lend itself to the Christmas look even when it isn't!
Bad grammar but you know what I mean!
Mixed feelings today as my wayward weekly B&B guy has been sacked!
Glad to be rid of him really as he was all talk, never let me know when he wasn't coming & owed me money!
I really thought I had lost out big time £320 owing but luckily the farmer owes him money & he's going to knock it off his wages!
I am posting early today as I have to go to a funeral in Horwich this afternoon. No one close but she was a lovely lady.
I will catch up commenting tonight when I return.
Three good things:
1. Not going to be out of pocket re B&B.
2. We have booked for New York next March; Cathy, Lydia and I
3. Central heating oil is at its lowest price for ages so we have just topped up.
That lovely wooden table is worthy of a picture and such a nice food display! She does love her spots and it is appealing, I must say! There is always a 'bad 'un" in B&B businesses! New York is exciting and not really far away!
This is a beautiful big kitchen, but it makes me nostalgic for my lost aga. Apparently the people who bought our old house were not content with ripping out the aga and original fireplaces, they've also carpeted over the Victorian tiles and parquet flooring. I can't bring myself to ask if they've kept the original art deco stained glass. I'm beginning to wonder why they bought it. If we sell a house again I think we should either move out of the area completely or interview prospective purchasers to assess their suitability.
Oh my word you will have a fantastic time in NY!! Make sure you go to Ellis Island - past the Statue of Liberty and a very interesting museum when you get there. And what a beautiful cafe - they won't run out of mugs. They have some gorgeous new ones - I love the black Labrador one except we haven't got one. Might take a pic of my new hen one which is just a pleasure to drink from. Wish they cost half as much though!
@judithg will remember that Judith...a slight hitch, just did overed Lydia's passport runs out in February....not sure if our booking can go ahead until she gets her new one! Will still go that week but might have to miss our hotel booking. Shall ring the travel agent tomorrow.
I don't think you need to put your advanced passenger info in till later on. I don't know what passport renewals are like at the moment - the last two times Nigel has had to go to Peterborough in person to make sure he gets it quick. We stayed in The Jewel at Rockefeller - brilliant location and no bed bugs. It was expensive when Adam and I went but when he went on his own I got a very good deal on Booking.com. We also enjoyed the Tenement. Museum but partly because I had read a book called New York by Edward Rutherford. It's a novel and is very long but it's basically a history of New York from Indian times as told by descendants of a couple of families. Thoroughly enjoyed it and it made NY all the more fascinating. You might have to start reading it now though!
@judithg Cathy said she would get me a book about NY as part of Christmas present so perhas this would be good. We have chosen the Radio City Apartments as Cathys friend stayed there & said it was good to be able to chill out in your own apartment after I long day in town ut the convenience of a restaurant too. Very near the Rockefeller Centre too so central. Am really looking forward to it. She did ask for passport details this morning but perhaps you keep the same number when you renew? They have done it online tonight I think.
I think the number will change but you should be able to amend it. Those apartments sound great - that's exactly where we stayed - overlooking the Rockefeller with Radio City just along the block. Right by 5th and 6th Ave, Times Square etc. We walked miles - along to High Line, SoHo, TriBeCa and down into Lower Manhattan and up towards Central Park - fantastic!
Such a warm and inviting look to this. Love that dresser with all the mugs and the back decor. Could eat some of those goodies too. There is a theatre just in that area of NY too, we saw Chicago there, got tickets on the day. You must get a shot of the Brooklyn bridge too, how exciting.
