This white peacock has appeared from nowhere & seems to have adopted our neighbours.
It likes to imitate the straw pheasant on top of the thatched cottage.
She sleeps on the windowsill of the bedroom.
Three good things:
1. Harry is back home & in good spirits.
2. Rice pudding in the oven.
3. Lily is pleased to see her favourite person.
Thank you all.....we just hope the peacock doesn't decide to walk over the grass to us! We used to have a few peacocks at the other farm & they perched on everything they shouldn't making mess & generally being a nuisance! After all the love & attention we gave them they then went walk about like this one!
A wonderful thatched cottage and it's visitor ! -- A lovely capture Pt . Glad that Harry is home again --I am sure he will enjoy the taste of home cooking especially the rice pudding and have Lilly no doubt sitting on his lap !! .
This is wonderful. We have a straw owl on our roof - wish we could attract a real owl to perch on our window like this peacock. Did debate on having peacocks myself but our neighbours couldn't cope with Guinea fowl so put that idea to bed.
One thing I don't like about peacocks is their screeching! They can obviously fly well with their bulky bodies! I just love that house! Elizabethan wonder!
@lucypics guinea fowl are my favourite Lucy & such good guard dogs but sure the neighbours couldn't cope with them! Our nearest neighbour was half a mile awY where we lived before so it didn't matter.
What a gorgeous image and the peacock is an extra. They have such a horrible cry, reminding me of someone in distress. MMMmmm - rice pudding - a favourite around here and fights over who gets to eat the 'skin' off the top!
A great shot of a beautifully thatched roof Pat. I love the patterns and the pheasant. The peacock looks fine as long as it stays there. They are such a pain to live with. Pleased Harry is happy to be home and doing well.
One day the hedge will meet the thatch and then no one gets in or out alive without a struggle. No, seriously, you have to love thatch. So evocative of times past. Just noticed the bird. Ha! That would scare the bejesus out of me if I woke up one morning with it looking in! It must be a good perch.
@sabresun so funny Matt...dead right too who would want that thing looking in at you! We have had Neville round visiting Harry today....he calls the peacock Petunia but has now taken 'agin' it...it sits on his car & outside the back door making messes. He gave a brilliant demonstration on how he chased it off with the hosepipe only to have it go round the back & come in the other way. Just hoping it doesn't find our bird table!
