It sounds odd & all you gardeners with beds full of flowers but this is the one & only flower out in my front garden!
My garden is full of shrubs & big oak trees so I have very few flowers at any time of the year as it's quite shady.
I have even forgotten the name of this one!!
Three good things:
1. Watching the very moving parade of the veterans on VJ Day in London. The terrible times those brave men & women went through & almost forgotten about too! I feel quite emotional about it all having just read Four Fires which gives a very moving account of an Australians ordeal building the Sandakan airport runway.
2. A 40th birthday party tonight across the road at number eleven & last house in our lane.
3. Jack has been doing a bit of delving into our family history.....very interesting & so much you can do online these days!
A pretty pink and nice dof. I watched 3 men, all 90+, on TV talk about their experiences and thought how amazing to survive such terrible times and reach such a grand old age.
Very sweet image. i have a small flower garden and for the first time ever, I have managed to get a brown boronia to survive to flower for a second season! The most beautiful perfume.
I think I like shady gardens better than bright and flowery ones! Shade means trees and thats real growth over the years. Trees also bring the birds but not butterflies but I would think the butterflies would like this particular pretty flower!
Lovely capture of your lonely pretty flower Pat. Did you see the veteran being interviewed who was 103 years old? He was amazing I thought he was about 70 at first.
@thistle Yes I did Joyce...a doctor, he looked amazingly spritly.....looked like his granddaughter or perhaps daughter with him in the parade, so proud!
