Although it was a real nuisance when the lights went out at the Country Living Christmas Fair certain stalls looked so pretty in the dark. This one especially was at its best, I was quite tempted by these candid covers but when we went back in the light they looked really disappointing.
Sometimes the lovely things you see using tea lights are a disappointment when you get them home as on display in the shop they are lit by small electric bulbs which are so much brighter!
Better on black of course if you have the time!
Just a little update on the flooding. The road into the next village of St Michaels & Garstang is cut off by flooding. The village school & village hall are under water & cows & people evacuated to safe places.
St Michaels has had some terrible history of flooding but not recently. Some of you might remember the Abbeystead disaster when a large number of people from St Michaels were killed when they went on an evening visit to a pumping station supposed to relieve the flooding problem. Methane ignited & the whole place blew up. Many local people from St Michaels were killed.
This will bring back bad memories for some.
Three good things:
1. I have made a start with the decorations today.
2. The B&Ber staying this week is a tuba player & has asked if he can practice a bit this week as its coming up to carol singing time. Might be a good thing or a bad thing!!
3. Harry has taken some stuff to the tip....more room in the outhouse!
I love candlelight and often have tealights in holders on for our evening meal, especially one Clare gave me in rose quartz and think of her in Scotland. What a dreadful disaster the visit to the puming station was.
Love the warm golden light in this image.
The flooding sounds bad, Pat. I hope that the water has started to recede and life can return to normal. Take care when you are traveling about...or just stay home until all is safe. You can work on your Christmas decorating while being serenaded with tuba carols. ☺
These are lovely Pat and yes, especially on black.
I love the soft effect they create in the lounge when I have friends round. But I have to be careful about perfumed ones as one of my best friends can't cope with the perfumes. Lots of lovely ways of using night lights though!
It looks very Christmassy and reminds me to buy some tea lights! They make good presents I find - the holder, that is. Crikey - tuba practice! Could he go in the barn do you think? As bad as bagpipes!
Beautiful shot and a lovely composition. Hope the floods recede pretty soon. I spoke to my sister a few days ago. (she lives in Worsley) and she is hating the weather at the moment.
