I quite like ironing, as you can see I just sit at the table watching TV.
Done a big of decorating but no tree up yet.
I went out to post the last overseas parcels & cards this morning. Really weird as the main road is so quiet, it's uncanny. No traffic beyond the entrance to the village so all the traffic going north from Blackpool & Fleetwood is taking the M55 instead of the A586 through St Michaels
I ventured out last evening on a round about route following Tony the postman & eventuall got to Bilsborrow.
I came back via Rawcliffe road & it was quite scary. Lots of mud on the road & still some floods but in the fields either side of the road I could see the water glinting in the dark.
Policeman & envronmental staff still there working hard.
This village school is being moved to a farm on the outskirts where they have a large barn. Opening tomorrow but it will be a round about route to actually get the kids there.
Lancaster where Cathy is working seems to be having electricity during the day but when it gets to 4pm all the lights go out. She had just finished doing a patients feet yesterday but the last patient missed! Everyone was leaving town at the same time in the dark....like a mass exodus!
Apparently 405mm of rain fell on Cumbria in 38 hours & it's raining again!
Three good things:
1. A knowledge of the back roads.
2. I ordered the turkey.
3. Reading a good book sample but it's quite expensive to buy....I always wonder if it's worth it! Has anyone read The Loney by Andrew Michael Hurley? Set mostly around the country between the River Wyre & the River Lune so so it's very topical to me.
This looks a very comfortable arrangement Pat. You must have so much ironing with all those sheets. Love ly to see your kitchen with the decorations up.
I don't much like ironing, but if I had a iron press it may be different.. but I guess you have to enjoy it with all your BB's. That is a lot of rain, lets hope it dry's out soon..
Looks very cosy. Nice to be able to pass the time watching TV whilst ironing, takes some of the boredom away. Hope the threat of more rain doesn't course more flooding.
Such a homely feeling to this scene Pat ,with your lights and Christmas decorations I am afraid my ironing is minimal these days , but when I had two men in the house and I was teaching my ironing used to be my Sunday night ritual while sitting in front of the telly !!
I hope all this terrible flooding recedes soon -- the situation has been so bad with you , up there ! Take care and not too much venturing out along the back lanes after dark !!
Looks so warm and inviting. Haven't read, or even heard of, The Loney but a quick google tells me a strange horror story so I'll give it a miss. Hope you enjoy if you get it.
First you have to clear the kitchen table - not an easy plan for me! Fighting with sheets is not my idea of a good life. I fold the sheets and if they are creased on the beds, nobody complains. Of course my guests are not B&Bs. Its a muddy wet world where you are!
Oh dear way behind tonight commenting...so sorry for mass reply. I do,like to answer all properly but on the phone & things going on here so all behind.
Thank you all for your lovely comments about flooding. We are only Inconvenienced in that we can't get easily where we want to be so we are so lucky. Going to have a go commenting on yours now!
