Boxed! by happypat

Boxed!

I will really try to start taking some more artistic & original photos soon but all you get today are tree decorations in a box!
I am quite proud of myself as I have had a real tidy up & any decorations we haven't put out this year have gone in the bin. All the lights are wrapped round rolled up newspapers so should come out untangled next time.

All in boxes tidy & organised!

Three good things:
1. While we were up in the attic putting stuff away we saw that the roof had been leaking in the valley gutter. Luckily there happened to be a plastic container right underneath that caught most of the water. So glad we saw it before we go away.....all this rain we've had got in somehow!
2. Our nieces hairdressers shop & the supermarket in the village were targeted by thieves on Wednesday night but a good CTV system caught the number plate & the police picked them up on the motorway!
3. One of our neighbours brought a large chunk of Christmas cake round for Harry. We had intended going into Preston today to buy a small one but didn't need to go so saved money & did the house instead! I would surely have bought something in the sale I didn't need!
That's my job for tomorrow. Always sad to put away the decorations. But the way time is speeding for me, Christmas will be here before I know it!

Monday will be my tidy up day...

Thats an excellent idea to wrap lights around a rolled up newspaper - must tell John that! We have had those plastic containers in the roof area over the years but now hopefully we don't need them. Of course the amount of rain you had was extraordinary!

@maggiemae I don't know what came over me, something I read in a newspaper! Works well! The rest of the attic needs tyding but it mostly stuff belonging to the NZ lot. Fishing things etc!

You are well organised as always - I took our decorated flax flower Christmas tree down the other day. I now need to do the floors and things will be back to normal - we have had people staying and two biggish family Christmas events here over the last 3 weeks.

@dh Well I'm not normally Delena & to be honest it didn't take me any longer!

All packed up for another year.
We didn't have any Christmas decorations this year as we were in New Zealand for 2 weeks and when we got home on the 21 Dec it seemed a bit late.
January 2nd, 2016
And what Wonderful festive shot it is.
January 2nd, 2016
@onewing We didn't put our decorations up a couple of years ago either as we were away....was rather nice not to have to bother! Must be getting old! We have very simple decorations but I really like twinkly lights.
January 2nd, 2016
@jennywren Thanks Jen.....I threw away all the tatty ones today!
January 2nd, 2016

January 3rd, 2016
Lights round a newspaper now there is an idea I must try. We're having a clear out this year and anything we haven't used can go. Part of mr clear the clutter campaign! Also will reduce the number of trips into the loft!
January 3rd, 2016
It is time to put them away for another year. Looks like you have some special ones in there Pat. Lucky find with the leak.
January 3rd, 2016

Lovely colourful capture. I also have CCTV on my bungalow and filmed 2 thieves trying to break into a garage at 3.15 am the other day. The police came round to view that.
January 3rd, 2016
Very pretty decorations. I usually keep mine up until twelfth night
January 3rd, 2016
Your tree decorations make a lovely bright shot! We have a leak in our roof - made safe and waiting to be fixed - had been leaking longer than we knew.
January 3rd, 2016
I've had a throw out too! Ones I'm not sentimental about - and cleaned up today - feeling a bit guilty about the amount of filth in the Hoover!
January 3rd, 2016
@judithg our Hoover blocked up loads of times, it needs a real good filter clean!
January 3rd, 2016
I have far too many Christmas decorations Pat that have collected over the years. I'm thinking of sorting them and passing them on to the op shop
January 3rd, 2016
the house looks really different once they are down Pat :)
quite sad really :(
January 3rd, 2016
