Covering up! by happypat

Covering up!

Roof felt going on & it's surprising how closed in we felt to begin with, we are used to seeing sky through the trusses.
Raining so hard all day which is unfortunate as all the heavy tractors & trade stands are arriving & setting up at the show field ready for our two day agriculture show.
It makes it unpleasant for all concerned besides making the fields boggy.
Good forecast though for both days.

Three good things:
1. A new microwave as our old one has stopped working. I got one on offer & it has a grill! I only use the microwave to heat stuff up but the grill might come in handy!
2. The hedges down the lane have all been cut, makes such a difference even getting out onto the main road, we can see what's coming!
3. I think all the residents out of the eleven houses down our lane think Harry is a good thing as he organises the hedge cutting every year. He tells the guy all the hedges belonging to each house that need cutting. Finds out how much each house owes, pays the hedge cutter man & then goes round to every house over the next couple of days & collects the money!
A bit of progress on the build. I bet it takes Harry hours to collect the $'s farmers like to chat. Let's hope things dry out before the show starts.

The build is coming on well now. You'll have new neighbours soon. Great job that Harry does sorting the hedge cutting.

Well done.

It looks as if it'll be a big house when it's finished.
Harry deserves a Citizen of the Lane Award!

Great to see the roof going on. Good on Harry for organising the hedge trimmers for all. Hope the ag show goes well.

Great to get hedge cutting done and see the development of the view from your house. You may or may not like it. I use the microwave grill for cheese and tomato on toast as well as baked potatoes!

@maggiemae I think the grill will come in really fancy, I haven't worked out yet how to use it properly, so many buttons!

The house is coming along nicely. It does feel strange at first doesn't it when you have new neighbours, we have had an empty block next door to us for 18 years and then a house was built on it. Luckily it is a single storey house and Donna the owner is a lovely lady.

The convered barn is coming on nicely -- but it must be quite daunting to see the building materialising in front of your eyes and in a way blocking your view -- but given time , you will get used to it ! You did well in erecting the trellis fencing -- you can always grow trailing plants on this if the view of the house is too stark ! Hope you will have good weather for the Ag Show !

@onewing @beryl We are used to a barn here but if you remember it had a very bad roof with all the tiles dropping off. Just the last few weeks though the roof has been off & it seemed lovely & light. This barn is quite low down so they do t over.ook us luckily. It has been sold to a family so it will be strange to hear talking & children the other side of our fence!

I haven't been following the barn story.so I've just caught up! Will be good to watch as it develops. We are also looking for a microwave/grill. What make is yours and are you pleased with it?

@busylady Ours is a cheapy Judith £49.50 at Currys on special offer. It's small steel with grill but I hardly use mine only for heating peas etc so adequate enough for us. The grill could come in handy but haven't tried it yet. The buttons seem quite hard to press & I haven't worked out the timer yet but notice if I press popcorn it heats for nearly two minutes. Must sit down & work it out properly when I have the time next week. Off to the show now.
