Flooding by happypat

Flooding

This is a very sad house in Garstang as its been flooded twice over the last eight months.
The young couple who bought it added an extension & I think excavated quite a bit underneath.
Last week during the second flooding the couple were busy around the house probably messing with sand bags but when they came to check in the conservatory it had seeped in through the ground & their young baby was floating on its play mat!!
How horrendous would that be!
They have moved out & don't want to live there anymore, well you wouldn't would you?

The smell of sumpy water was enough to put you off!

Three good things:
1. We live on a hill.
2. Going to try Cartmel Summer Pudding tonight!
3. Looking forward to meeting up with @thistle tomorrow in Birmingham.
yummy cartmel summer pudding is delicious. How sad and depressing for the young couple

How awful for them, thank goodness the baby is OK

How devastating for them -- a lovely looking home ,where to start their married life and family .! You are lucky to live on a hill ! Now your Carmel Summer Pudding sounds delicious -- one of my favourite puddings is a summer pudding I can just see and taste it now with a dollop of fresh cream . Enjoy it tonight !

@jgpittenger oh alive thank goodness but a shock you would take some getting over!

@beryl we just ate the pudding Beryl, had it with ice cream but would have been far better with clotted cream. I won't be buying it again!

Oh no - poor things!! Sounds like somebody has done a poor job with the ground works,
August 30th, 2016
@happypat Thank god for that.

That sounds terrible for the young couple.
Know wonder they don't want to go back.

Oh how tragic for that young family. I can't imagine how awful that must be.

I'm sure they'll be joining you living on a hill next time Pat. What a scare that must've been.

A dreadful experience. How sad that the house looks as if it was built on a floodplain.

One of the first things one should do before buying a house is find out if flooding has been an issue! A bad experience for them but hope someone else can do something to enable someone to live here! Its a big house.

@maggiemae it's only been an issue this year Maggie unfortunately, something wrong with the water management somewhere!

@jmj The whole town of Garstant is just at the back of it Jennifer, the river was behind me as I took this shot but no great problem in the past.

Bep
That sounds very tragic!
Have a nice day tomorrow.

So sorry for the couple - it is tragic but could have been worse if the baby had fallen off his mat.
Have fun in Birmingham!
