Beetham nurseries have an Apple weekend at this time of the year show casing all the different varieties of the British apple.
It's amazing how many different sorts there are which you never ever find in the supermarkets.
Three good things:
1. A lovely lunch out with my cinema friend before she goes off to Australia on holiday.
2. A brisk walk along the prom at Clevelys.
3. Plasters.
@julzmaioro Yes Julz, Harry has very thin skin on his arms with being out in the sun lots so he is always catching them & then they bleed. A nasty gash today!
It would be good to have just a small taste of each one and then write the names down to remember the good ones! John's skin is very fragile too and has to have plasters all the time! And yes, Daniel Blake is a film - not seen it though.
@maggiemae I've just had an Apple, it was very nice but no clue what it was called. Seeing as none of the shops sell these varieties anyway it doesn't really matter although I suppose the idea is to buy a tree & grow your own!
A great selection of apples. You would be spoilt for choice.
Poor Harry. I think David knows how he feels. His skin went very thin and papery when he was on medication for Graves Disease and he couldn't go out in the sun because his skin burnt.
huge display of apples. Hate it when you buy apples at the supermarket and get them home and they taste dreadful. Sometimes they have been in cold storage for months.
