One of our favourite places to visit as a family is this farm on the way to Windermere.
We stopped here for a coffee & a toasted tea cake last Sunday on our way to Bo'ness.
There is a wonderful farm shop selling produce from all over the Lake District & North of England.
Upstairs there is a cafe with a viewing window & everyday at 3.30pm you can watch the cows being milked.
Lots of gifts, lovely clothes such as Seasalt, White Stuff, Masai etc.
Down in the old shippons there are rugs, lights & all manner of different gifts.
There is a farm walk over the fields but the latest addition new since we were last there is this Raw Milk bar.
You can fill a plastic container or refillable glass bottle with milk that has not been pasteurised.
When we were milking we always got our milk from the bulk tank where our milk was stored & nothing beats the taste of pure milk straight from the cow.
Obviously there are rigid ongoing tests to go through before you can sell this type of milk to the general public.
It was busy!

Three good things:
1. Reading in the afternoon!
2. Our wood burner on for the first time tonight.
3. Advent calenders parcelled up.
The 'raw milk' market is increasing here all the time, and like you we collect our house milk from the bulk vat... but I must admit that I am not a big milk drinker and I do buy trim milk for myself.
This looks like a fantastic set up and good that they have diversified .. You are so organised with your christmas parcels.
@julzmaioro yes have to be, moving very soon so have to get the parcels there before. Rather sudden so have to be organised! Yes raw milk is growing here too. We loved our milk but as we moved over to Jerseys in the last ten years or so the milk was too rich for us & I started to but semi skimmed. We only seem to have milk on cereals or tea & coffee.
Sounds a great place, will make a note, may go up lakes in feb, Elizabeth was talking about it last night, as jacks parents come up for half term from Brighton. ... raw milk, i remember when dad was milking, we used go in the milking shed, when it coming into the tank all warm and frothy, with our cups,, never did us any harm, but couldnt do it now!
This wall would be covered with green in the spring and summer! Lovely old building and the place sounds like you could spend a day here! There is nowhere I can taste raw milk here - do remember the taste from a childhood farm where they had a small dairy. Who is moving?
@maggiemae Jo & Anthony Maggie, down to Taupo. You they have a place near them in Raglan where they can go to the farm & fill their jug from the bulk tank. I think he's called The Naked Dairy of similar, was on Country Calendars once.
It looks like our sort of place Pat. I've just checked out their website and put it in my favourites. We're going back to the Lakes next month so we may try and call in. Thank you.
