Interesting work today on the garage roof next door. Not a very big garage, I can't see them actually parking a car in this narrow building, more of a big shed I think.
Some of you might remember how this roof looked like early last year with all the slates sliding off!
You can just see our plumbers van on our side of the wall.
View from the kitchen window.
Three good things:
1. The new plumber has been & done most of the work needed. He was a very pleasant chap, clean, prompt & obliging.
2. I'm reading a very charming & tear jerking little book called The Hen Who Dreamed she could Fly. Her name is Sprout & she is gorgeous!
3. I saw a van today with the words E. Dugdale, Son & Grandson. A real family firm!
@phil_howcroft no it doesn't seem to Phil though this is going to be the nearest we have ever lived tomanyone else somwill be different! We are not too near each other physically as their outside solace is further along than ours & this wall is quite high & they seem a very nice family. We shan't be bad neighbours I hope!
It will be good to see neat and tidy building once again . New neighbours so near can be quite daunting at first , but with your friendly disposition Pat -I am sure all will be well !
Lovely to see the work in progress. I hope they are nice quiet neighbours.
We have been in this house for 20 years and have had an empty block next to us. Last year a house was built on the block and our new neighbour, Donna, is delightful. She lives alone and is the same age as David and I. We were very lucky she bought the land and only built a single storey house on it.
theyve certainly done a lot of work on the place Pat. Please tell me, what is an "outside solace"? Love the idea of the Plumber family. Sounds like the game "Happy Families"
The brickwork looks very good and goes with your fence, Going to be a strong and warm house being renovated in this day and age! Like the idea of 'Sprout'
@onewing you were lucky Babs, it can all go so badly wrong with neighbours! Keep away from shared drives seems to be one tip! I like living in a community, we lived so long without the sight of a house that a bit of community spirit goes down well.
@brennieb Well we think better than having a chap using the buildings for animals that he might not look, after to,our standard, I couldn't live next door tomanything like that. No smells, nice & tidy would help ours to sell on if we ever moved.
@beryl thanks Beryl, we will try, friendly but not too, if you get the drift. The house is below ours so not as if we can see anyone when we come outside, quite private!
@happypat -- I agree , good thinking Pat ! and its good to know you still have privacy when coming outside -- The fencing to the back of my house is also high enough to get privacy in the back garden -- essential for harmony I think ! -- (woke up thirsty so I am downstairs having a cuppa ) !!
