Spring work 1

This large machine is sowing maize.
You can see how dry the soil is, we haven't had any rain for weeks.

The weather is sunny & hot in the sun but a slight frost at night.

Three good things:
1. Reading my book in the sun.
2. New potatoes from my sister in law.
3. The smell of new mown grass.
That's a big expanse of maize.. there is still the odd crop of maize getting harvested around here so very late with all the wet weather.. so hope you have a better season over there..

It's nice to see the season's rural activities The land is so dry here too Pat -- it's time we had a shower or two . !

Hopes bit rain this weekend...like the expanseness of tho.

Great bit of flat cropping land. Hopefully the rain will soon follow to get the maize underway.

@quietpurplehaze I have just finished The Tea Planters Daughter Hazel. First of a series of three books & ive just stated the second one. Didn't think I would enjoy it at first but now I'm really enjoying them. Not too heavy which is good at the moment when my head is fuzzy.

@gijsje

Bep, thank you for thinking of me but not my type of book. Ray has read them!

@happypat
Thank you - will investigate.

The distant sound of the tractor would be so nice to hear - rather than the sound of a motorway! Sounds a nice time of the year with weather - not too hot at night! I hope you have some medicine to cope with the pain!
May 10th, 2017
@maggiemae thanks Maggie, have felt worse today as my head has had sharp pains, my glands are swollen & I have no energy. No worries though as I know it will pass & nothing special on at the moment although I have three B&B in tonight.

Nice scene!

It is interesting to read so many posts indicating the lack of rain. We have bottom land, the corn was planted, and because of too much rain the river is out and we've lost this crop. Whenever the river recedes we'll go in and plant soybeans. Such is the life of the farmer.

@essiesue either too much rain or not enough Sue! They are grumbling about the lack of it but as soon as they slap a hose pipe ban on it will rain & rain!
May 11th, 2017
Nice to see tractors in the fields there. It is so wet here that tractors won't be able to get into the fields for a least a week. We are so far behind this year!

Great landscape shot!

It looks really dry, could be in Australia.
May 11th, 2017
A lovely landscape

Honestly Pat - I think you should be prepared for what happens with this incredibly nasty condition - don't want to frighten you but think you should ask your Doctor what you should plan for!

love reading all the friendly conversations going on around you today. I thought the same as Babs that with all that dust it could be Australia. Have you read any of Dinah Jefferies books. Just read her one called The Tea planters Wife! Hope the pain reduces for your soon.Pt\at
