Tonight we have been out walking in the rain on the annual Holstein Friesian Society treasure hunt.
This year it was in the lovely village of Abbeystead.
Abbeystead is owned by the Duke of Westminster, he owns thousands of acres in this area & the Trough of Bowland.
A tiny village it has a school, beautiful village hall & all the tenants of houses & farms are very contented & who wouldn't be living in such a beautiful spot.
The last Duke died only late last year at a young age, he was a very ordinary chap who, although one of the richest men in England never flaunted his wealth & lived a quiet life.
The Queen loves to stay in his large house in Abbeystead.
The young Duke at only 25 has a lot live up to!
Three good things:
1. Fun evenings.
2. Catching up on news.
3. New photo ops.
@beryl I wish I had taken a photo of the path Beryl, mud mud all the way except for this bit at the end of the worst part. We were mighty glad to come out of the trees & see a bit if grass I can tell you.
It sounds as if this is a yearly do and good for you all to be doing it, one year older! Who would want to be a Duke - not me - mind you I'd have to be a Duchess!
