A photo to mirror the weather here today.
As we drove through Glencoe in the Scottish Highlands on our recent holiday the weather was dreadful both ways.
Today in Great Eccleston it is exactly the same!
A day to go to the cinema in fact & that's exactly what we did.
Breathe is a film well worth seeing. A true story about disabled patients on iron lungs & the pioneering Robin Cavendish & his wife who defied doctors & managed to live a full filled life at home surrounded by family & friends. He was the first man to help invent a chair to enable freedom of movement away from the confines of a hospital ward.
A real love story, tear jerker & is well worth watching!
A serious subject but so uplifting!
Three good things:
1. One of the cinema girls came & moved us out of the wrong screening, we were sitting in the kids film.
2. Hearing old songs such as True Love by Bing Crosby.
3. Some amazing food last night at the cookery demo. I shall definitely try one of the recipes.
Looks very dramatic.. is this a colour shot or did you convert to b&w.. have to look out for that movie.. @dide and I thought we were in the wrong movie the other day .. one of the trailers seem to be going on a bit..
@julzmaioro well it's a colour shot but naturally grey Julz, I did nothing to it! Film was lovely, sad but very uplifting & true. Showed the real couple at the end.
Good to see poor weather as well as sunshine and blue skies! As long as you don't have to camp in it! It means an inside day - a chance to watch that movie, warm up by the fire! All nice.
Ahh this is so dramatic. It looks cold too! I’ve been trying to decide if I wanted to see that movie.....it sounds like it is very good! Thank you for the movie review!
@louannwarren@busylady It's a lovely film, not sure if it's a mans film though quite a bit of fettling with the mobile machine they invent! I teresting when it's a true story too, Robin Cavendish died in 1996 I think.
@maggiemae Even though it's wet & dreary it's warm so we have been roasted here by the fire tonight. Very unseasonal. The main roads have been flooded tonight & no trains running from Preston northwards. Buses laid on but the A6 from Garstang north is closed too, flooding again.
It looks quite bleak here. Hope it isn't too cold.
I just checked out our local cinema and the movie you talk about won't be here until the end of January. I will make a note to go and see it.
I think I've only been through Glencoe once on sunshine. Mostly the gloom and low cloud have almost made me feel claustrophobic 😕
Susannah told me about Breathe as she'd really enjoyed it too.
@onewing@sarah19 Do go if you get the chance specially you Babs as in the beginning it's set in the late fifties so will bring back memories of that simple time in our lives.
Your picture looks rather dramatic.
