Oliver Twist by happypat

Oliver Twist

The theme for the Christmas decorations at Chatsworth House this year is Charles Dickens.
There were many reconstructions of different novels, this room was Oliver Twist. I was amazed at the way they had constructed the beds for the orphans, very original.

Three good things:
1. New outside lights for the tree outside. 500 of them twinkling away! I hope they last a few years as they were a nightmare to put on this afternoon!
2. We have Kirsty & John in with their gun dogs for three nights. Taking part in The International Gun Dog League Retriever Society final here across the river. There are dogs from all over the world taking part. I sent them off with a good breakfast early this morning so fingers crossed they do well.
3. Off out tonight to a local business Christmas sale in The Green Man pub in Inglewhite where we used to live. I need a mitten for getting fluff of black trousers!
I love reading your commentary. It makes an English Christmas come alive!

This display is great although a bit sad thinking of the hardships of the time. Your image is great given the lighting challenges.

A bed of straw! Thats what they had - be nice with that fire burning as long as sparks didn't fly out and they would have had a bed of fire!
