Lawn mowers out today!
Harry has three mowers, four if you count the tractor mower. He has been itching to get started & today is the day.
Honestly the mowing of the grass dominates our lives in the summer. Sometimes he hasn't time to go out somewhere because he will get behind mowing, it's like Blackpool Tower you start at the top & by the time you have finished the first one wants doing!
He loves it though & I must admit the lawns do look good. Strangely he has a ride on one but prefers to push his favourite round so he can get in every corner!
Three good things:
1. I have been tidying the garden. Pulling up last years geraniums out of the pots. Sometimes they survive the winter but this year they are well & truly dead.
2. I still can't believe how tidy the house is since we lost Lily poor girl but I am appreciating it.
3. Masterchef is on every night this week except tomorrow!
Strange for us that your lawns can be ignored over the winter, although in the southern part of the South Island it is much the same. It’s a big area to mow and good he has the ride on mower if he needs it. A lovely image to see.
I like cutting the grass too but we have the guinea pigs outside in the summer who munch some of the grass...maybe a long line with 50 guinea pigs...they would do the job! hahahaha and free poop for the grass too!
Nice to see a man at work and doing a job he enjoys doing ! Been a lovely day today but getting colder this evening ! Gary did our lawns yesterday - heavy going as the grass was long and rather wet ! - should be better next time !
@dide oh wow do your lawns need mowing all year round then, a nightmare! Ours only need doing from around now to about October & that's later than it used to be.
@huvesaker oh how funny that would look Bo, I like that idea but in the winter how would you feed the little blighters? Would be like having to store grass in some form to feed them all winter! Same as cows & we've had enough if that in the past!
@beryl yes it's hard going at first although ours wasn't that long, he on,y took the top off. So much tidier it looks too. Hoping he will do the front lawn tomorrow before Easter & visitors,
@gijsje yes thevgardens look a bit of a mess at this time if year, it was nice pottering outside today & it's very satisfying once you get started isn't it's.
How funny, my husband did our first lawn cut of the year yesterday too! Ours is still very shaggy, it will take a few cuts to get it neat but at last it was dry enough to make the attempt!
