My first sight of St Peters in Rome.
We had booked a tour of the Sistene Chapel & St Peters so felt fairly smug as we passed all these folk in this long long queue.
In actual fact our tour was three hours long & we were shattered at the end of it. A bit too much history made harder by the fact that the guide was lovely but his English accent was a bit hard to follow sometimes & the number of tours going round was rather overwhelming....on a Monday morning too!
Glad I’ve been & the basilica was truly awesome.
Three good things:
1. Three bags & a box to the charity shop.
2. I washed a load of Lego bricks left over from when our kids played with them. It’s amazing to think that the big tin of them would still be wanted by today’s kids.
3. New potatoes planted...first earlies.
Lovely shot, yes that tour would have been too long for me too - I'm not keen on too much history either - when I was with Becka in India all the history .... I was more interested in taking photos so Becka did more listening then I did 🤣
@bizziebeeme@joansmor there were certainly lots of extra interesting facts we would have never have know about so yes the tour was very well worth it but would have been easier with less people about so we weren’t trying to stay in the guides sight so much. So many treasures in the Vatican City.
Lovely shot of St Peters. Anything to beat a queue is worth it! And yes, Lego is such a timeless toy! Our son loved it. I regret having given away his collection. It could have been kept for grandchildren. But with all our moving around the world, we've always had to be ruthless with our belongings.
A lovely shot , and all that queue !! so anything to beat that is a huge bonus ! , but 3 hours is a very long tour !! -- something you would do once in your life time !
@jamibann@dide anyone want any Lego....the only family that would want it lives a bit far away although I suppose I could pack it next time we go over. I think I shall donate it all to the charity shop but I suppose I had better ask first!
@maggiemae The Sistene Chapel was completely u like I thought it would be...full of people gazing upwards! I was most interested in where the chimney was for the white smoke!
@beryl Yes good to say I have been there...it’s been a part of my life for so long that to actually see St. Peters in real life was rather amazing! Three hours was hard on the legs...we walked over 19000 steps that day.
Love the photo and that blue sky!! That was a long tour! Do you find yourself remembering special moments at odd times, now you're home? So much packed into a short time but good to have the experience and memory making! X
