Birthday present by happypat

Birthday present

Harry & I spent some time this morning moving all the boxes I had packed ready for moving.
Mostly books so quite heavy, the house looks ready for viewing again now. I did unpack my cookery books as do want the place to look lived in.

We also decided to unwrap our joint birthday present. Harry’s birthday was in June & mine next week so the kids clubbed together & bought us this cocoon swinging seat. We did think we would leave it wrapped up until we moved but thought that was silly now we may be here most of the summer.

Harry was enjoying trying it out! We haven’t decided exactly where to put it yet but I’m hoping tomorrow is going to be a hot sunny day so I can sit & read in the sun!

Note the wellies on in the middle of the summer!

Three good things:
1. Wheelbarrows for moving boxes.
2. Our ex buyers have given us a copy of the very intensive survey they had done!
3. I had the best nights sleep for years last night, only woke briefly once until 9am! 😳
Boo
a wonderful seat for a relax

Harry looks very comfy , wellies and all !! ha !! Hope the weather is fine for you tomorrow so you can relax with your book while swaying gently in your cocoon ! Enjoy . I changed my mind about the egg seat and bought a very comfy double swing seat with a sun canopy ! Nice for our Tate-a-Tate when Pat comes down for coffee on a Friday mornings !

What a wonderful gift! And definitely good to enjoy on sunny days.
Like your three good things...especially no.3....and also good about the survey.

@sarah19 The survey scared the life out of me to start with but after all the messing about & worrying remarks it all boiled down to what you would expect an old house to be like. Just a bit of work needed on the roof which we knew about. Thing is whether to let any new buyer see this or not. I have asked what estate agents think.
July 19th, 2019
@beryl Yes I think you’re right to have a swing instead of a cacoon....better on your own or someone you don’t mind being very close to! I do t think you could drink tea very comfortably with two if you in there! 😀

@quietpurplehaze I intend to try tomorrow Hazel!

@huvesaker @gijsje b. Thank you both....looking forward to a very lazy day!

@happypat the wording of things can make such a difference. 💛
July 19th, 2019
A great gift and one you’ll both enjoy relaxing in.
July 19th, 2019
Wow. What an excellent joint birthday gift. Hope you have hours of fun in it together!
July 19th, 2019
@sarah19 They say all the things they found such as insect damage in roof rafters the at end day it’s historic & dormant! Come to the conclusion expensive surveys are a load of exaggerating obvious observations!
July 19th, 2019
Harry looks quite at home. Wellies 'an all!
July 19th, 2019
Now this looks very nice enjoy

Looks a lovely comfy seat
July 19th, 2019
I love your birthday present. What a wonderful gift for both of you. Glad you got some good sleep, I think sometimes our bodies just decide they are going to sleep and the heck with what we think!
July 19th, 2019
This looks very comfortable but I don't think you will have a glass of wine in here. It will look very liveable for any prospective buyers too. The ex buyers will have had to pay for that survey so it may be they feel they should not waste it and come back with another offer.... or their house might get sold!
July 19th, 2019
@maggiemae I think you might be right there maggie! I think buyers might possibly come back...it was the parents house that that fell through, they were going to share the house together...two generations.

Cool gift

What a wonderful goft for many years of relaxing time together. I hope you didn’t have to pay for the survey

Nice cozy seat. Did the buyers try to get you to reduce the price? That is what our first prospective buyers did due to a surveyor's report which included the neighbors barn. My husband said no, he was so irritated he would not have sold it to them for more money by then. A couple of months later someone came along that knew my husband's family and the house and he sold it to that person.
July 20th, 2019
@grannysue Yes they have been doing exactly that Linda, making all sorts of reasons to reduce the price. They genuinely liked it & its perfect for them & their family. I think part of the reason was they saw it & thought they would take a look but slightly above their price bracket so processed to try & knock us down. On reading the extensive survey, it’s all a load of waffle & might be stuff. They also got our road status wrong saying it’s an I adopted road with pictures of all the rough places on Well Lane! Selling houses is hard work....hope out outcome is same as yours!
July 20th, 2019
@grannysue un adopted road!

Nice shot and I know all about moving books

So glad you have decided to make use of your joint birthday present while the weather is still nice. Not much use for it in winter I suppose, so make the most of it.

Expensive surveys are usually a waste of money from my experience. We had surveys on our houses in Australia but luckily the RAAF used to pay for things like that when we were posted. They also used to pay for our real estate costs and solicitors fees too. Much more accommodating than the RAF ever were.
July 20th, 2019
That looks like a great birthday pressie!
I would keep the survey as it is likely that someone else may want to do an extensive one. If they do, you at least have one there to show them which could be a positive thing.

Have been sitting in one of those chairs but dodging the rain
July 20th, 2019
This looks like a blissful place to relax....
July 20th, 2019
A lovely present, looks very cosy for two
July 20th, 2019
That looks a super comfy place and welly-friendly! Hope you get another buyer soon.
July 20th, 2019
@willowdragon I have asked Cathy to print it off for us Al....you never know but I do think there so much waffle in it, don’t really want o show anybody....it suggests things that are wrong....such as insect infestation in roof structures then afterward say there is nothing & it’s historic. Scary stuff, they have given us the survey not the good results that came from further investigation.
July 20th, 2019
@happypat That is not good at all. It would have been better to give you everything.
July 20th, 2019
@jgpittenger No Jane the buyers paid!
@willowdragon Yes a bit pointless really. Shall see what comes up...hope any other buyers just use mortgage survey.
