Walk the walk

This year’s collection of hand carved walking sticks excelled themselves I thought.
The bone carved thistle one in the centre won best in show.
So much intricate work here.

Three good things:
1. An odd day...another visit from our prospective buyer, he’s either going to up his offer or pull out tomorrow!
A really sad funeral of a 41 year old son of farming friends. Father of four including three year old twins....the good part was the large family support...there must have been fifteen children among the 300 or so congregation.
3. I went for my pre op after all this & she had to take my blood pressure six times before it came down! Stressful times!
What a wonderful display - bring back memories of my late father , Dad used to carve walking sticks and crooks - some all in wood and others with carved horn handle . I have a very similar one to the winner here that he carved !
Sounds an odd statement from the prospective buyer ! No 3 ? am I missing something ?

What a fantastic collection.
I have the same question as @beryl

I love these, so ingenious and so beautifully carved. There were some lovely wooden ones at our recent wonder of wood festival. They charged £10 to get in though which I thought was a bit steep. We didn't buy much but the children had a great time.

@beryl @brennieb @gijsje I’m fine no worries but have to have a couple of days in hospital from next Wednesday....just a women’s repair job....not serious but thank you....think I will be ready for the rest if nothing else! No lifting for six weeks!

How impressive. I didn't know that had a contest for the best walking stick. Some of those look like elephant trunks. Nice capture.

Someone would be proud to walk with those sticks! More like work of art! Hope you can drive after your op! Take it easy - my BP needs a lot of deep and relaxing breathing before its acceptable!

Wonderful photo. I wonder what the total number of hours spent on all of these might be.....and did the creators know each other. The books that could be written!
Hope the house situation soon resolved and personal stuff goes well. 💛💛

I still remember a lovely west Indian nurse telling me "oooh, I am so worried about your blood pressure, let me take it again" and finding it so stressful that she was worried that it kept going up!! Usually I am ridiculously low and in danger of keeling over lol. Wishing you well with "the repair job."
Hope your buyer makes a speedy decision and you know where you are soon.

Loving these carved walking sticks, what a fabulous thing!

Lovely work with these handsome walking sticks. I was surprised to read of your impending surgery/hospitalization, Pat. I take comfort in the fact that you seem to be unconcerned and at ease with it. But know that you are and will be in my thoughts. I'm just sorry that you are stressing out about the house sale. Take deep breaths and let that stress go. Sending pre-op hugs your way, sweet lady! xo
