Maize by happypat

Maize

We’ve had so much rain this last few weeks but today they have started picking up the maize crop.
Making a bit of a mess & they have a tractor at the back ready to push if they get stuck.
They are using the gate that leads along our lane so there is a lot of mud...very unhappy neighbours but they are using a scraper to try & remove the worst of it!

Quite a dark photo but quite late in the afternoon when I took it.

Three good things:
1. The engineer has been to look at the internet reception. He’s tweaked something & it does seem marginally better so fingers crossed I will be able to check out your photos again!
2. I’ve booked a flight to NZ. Our DIL is visiting next week to see her parents so I’ve decided to go back with her for a couple of weeks....will be lovely to see the little boys! Last saw them in June last year.
3. Out for a coffee with my cinema friend. Her little grandson Charlie who has been so ill with his brain tumour is appearing on Good Morning with Philip & Holly on Thursday morning. He’s having more chemo next week.
Muddy wet time of year..we off to Florida In Nov see Tom and his family. ..not seen since Libby's wedding last may...baby Cosette will be three in December! How you doing...we to have had trouble with our internet.after BT bring here 3 ,hours or do on sat all is ok now .xxx

Beat the farmer is pleased to be able to get that crop off .. unfortunate that it is making a mess but needs must ..
Oh exciting that you are coming over for a quick trip .. I often think about Charlie and wondering how he is doing .. give his Nana a hug from me it is tough on the surrounding family as well ..

Makes it hard work for harvesting when the ground is so wet. Great that you are getting to see the grandsons for a couple of weeks.

Farmers become experts at dealing with the weather I imagine.

Sorry to hear Charlie isn't yet out of the woods.

Charlie will be in my prayers. Sad when cancer strikes but even more when a child. Enjoy your trip.

Thank you all for your lovely comments. Meant to post again today but our little visitor cat has gone home tonight so never got round to doing it.
Lots of complaints about the state of our road today...the neighbours aren’t a happy bunch but the farmers are trying their best to keep it clean! One of the rare downsides of living in the country that some don’t understand !
Charlie has had a reoccurrence of his brain tumours in recent months....one operation & lots of treatments, it’s hard going for them all after the initial promise of potential cure. It’s affected him quite badly I’m afraid.

@happypat I am terribly sorry to hear that about young Charlie. Sending so so much love to the wee fella and all his family and friends ❤️
