Helping grandad

Connie was in her element yesterday helping Harry around the garden.
Much easier to look after when she can get about more & entertain herself with leaves & chasing round among the trees.
Harry is busy tidying out his stuff to move to the new place next Friday.

Three good things:
1. Lovely to see & hear the geese back, flying in large V shapes on their way to their winter haunts.
2. I am breaking in my first pair of Doc Martin boots! Not really true but they are DM but the lighter softer Newton Light....I’m trying them round the house but must say they are so very comfortable.
3. These four aluminium milk churns are from when Harry as a boy used to drive the tractor with a wooden cart at the back carrying these churns full of milk to the stand at the road end. You used to see all the stands at the end of farm roads years ago...no more though. The farm sign on the left was from our previous farm & the one where we used the churns, I advertised them on the local sales & wants & we sold them to our next door neighbour!
Ooh I have never tried a Doc Marten - I shall be interested to see if you really like them as I have thought about trying them before!
Well done on the churn sale and lovely to see Connie being of such help to Harry before the move!!

Bep
Love your nr 1. I heard them too some days ago.

@casablanca Well I would never consider wearing the original ones as I believe they take ages to wear in but I have been wearing these all afternoon with the label still on & they are so light & comfortable. I was worried they may have been too narrow on foot & leg but they are fine. I think I shall keep them....Will put a photo on my extras!

@happypat oh good. I am pleased you’re keeping that!
October 17th, 2020
Well it’s good your farm items are going to neighbors! Friday will be here before you know it.

Such a huge job! Sometimes easier to get a skip delivered, chuck things into it and get it picked up. We keep our signs too. Its another page in your life!

I hope Harry has got plenty of space for his 'toys' in your new house.

He looks engaged

Cor, I remember milk churns at the end of farm drives. And I'm just watching Call the Midwife for the first time and they've reached 1963 - it seems so old fashioned but I was born that year! When do I officially become antique rather than vintage?

@nickspicsnz You are a young chick compared to me! 🤣🤣

@maggiemae We had a skip last time maggie, all this stuff to keep! Going in the new man shed! When it’s built that is!! Garage first then tractor shed up ....transfer stuff into shed then start on house!
October 18th, 2020
@onewing He will have eventually Babs!
October 18th, 2020
Shed comes first!
October 18th, 2020
@maggiemae stuff going in garage until shed built maggie then garage part is incorporated in house: Shed up before we start altering house....garden has to be cleared of brambles first, that will be very soon.

Lovely shot; so much to see for do-it-yourself guys. And it looks much neater than my garage is.

Connie will be in her element. I remember driving a trailer to the lane end with milk churns on. Very heavy they were too!! Interested in the Doc Martins. I am looking at getting pair. Did you buy them online?
October 18th, 2020
Looks very organised! We've been sorting out our attic - we've thrown loads of stuff but it still looks as full?!
October 18th, 2020
Glad he has a helper! I cannot imagine moving all that...
October 18th, 2020
@thistle01 I bought them online Joyce...never bought shies before online but it’s free returns & a sturdy box so should be fairly easy to send them back. Some say size down but ordered a size six as normal & there is plenty of room for thick socks later when it’s colder. I like them but they have to be the Lite ones, the others are stiff & hard to wear in I believe, better for the young ones!

@happypat Thanks Pat. I'll try and track some down online as my nearest shop will be Birmingham!
