The resident washing machine in our new place had a special cleaning powder cleaner put through it the day we moved in & promptly decided enough was enough & died on us!
The chap that came for the not working cooker also mends washing washing machines took it away but when it came out from under the units a floor board collapsed showing a massive hole underneath.
To cut a long story short I went to buy a piece of plywood to fit over so we could put the second hand temporary washing machine on top.
It’s all go here!
Three good things:
1. We had the architect here all morning measuring & looking...he was here when the hole appeared!!
2. The timber place never charged me for the plywood, just put something in the charity box he said!
3. Our telephone with original number is connected!
Ooh Pat , its all go with you -- I would say a day of the good , bad and ugly ! Amazing what you find when you move a piece of equipment that has been in situ for a long time ! The three good things sound promising !
That's a bit worrying - perhaps the machine leaked for years! Hate to find what is in that hole! Good to have the plywood to put over it. Every day is a new day!
Thank you all, I’m a bit distracted tonight so a mass reply....I love watching The Great British Bake Off & I didn’t get chance to comment before it came on....the hole was a shock but we knew the floorboards were dodgy!
The whole floor is coming up in the new year so no great problem but I’m glad we covered it up!
Well I know that scene from our local B&Q store. How nice that the guy didn't charge you! So sorry you've got these problems though - not easy - but you seem to be handling it very well. At least you're connected now! :-)
The joys of diy! Great about keeping your phone number - we've had trouble keeping ours when we've changed broadband supplier - 3 times had to memorize new number?!
@onewing No we didn’t sadly...it was heavy to lift & very old so we let it go. The brief look we had of the one in house already looked promising but sadly it didn’t like starting up again after being retired three years!!
