I went to the local hardware store to buy a needle & some cotton.
Had to laugh at the selection on this card.....a needle for any eventuality!
Who ever buys a packing needle, a sailmakers needle, a carpenters needle or even an upholstered needle among many?
All these needles for under a pound!
Three good things:
1. I had a socially distanced picnic in a park with two friends & exchanged presents. Irish coffee & hot mince pies but it was so good to meet up after so many months.
2. My heating has gone off in my car...called at the garage & booked it in for a service & hopefully a cheap part for the heater.
3. We are all frustrated with the new rules re Christmas but everyone I’ve spoken to is going to follow rules if reluctantly. I can’t think that we are the only country where this horrid virus has mutated!
One other good thing, it’s the shortest day....
Wow....that needle pack is like 'The Repair Shop' team would use!
Good to get fresh air with friends.
Love the 'shortest day' fact. Hope it's a marker for all sorts of good things!
@maggiemae I hardly ever use a needle these days but need to move a couple of buttons on my coat....the second bit of sewing if buttons this month! I am not a sewer!!
What a great selection Pat, and really sharp too, (pun!) I do have a set which includes an upholstery needle and a leather needle. I have used both - the leather one to mend Peter's slippers!
What a set ! they must have had this in the shop for some time - but mind you if you can not thread one needle there will be one you can surely thread ! -- a problem I have these days !!
Can remember having a needle set like this..most were used atvsome stage but can't remember repaiting any sails..
Nice for you to have a friend catch up.. Very sad about the bew restrictions but hopefully it stops the spread..
I think the sailmakers needle would be in use here at the moment. We have had so much rain we are thinking of building an ark and sails would help it sail along. After so many years of being in drought it is unusual for us to see so much rain.
I'm sure you'll have a desperate need to mend a mattress, so use the curved needle, one day - or maybe not, lol! There's definitely a needle for every occasion in that pack. Sounds like you had a nice picnic.
This sort of thing is right up my street! Am a member of Repair Café. In our neck of the woods, RC meets every month. Our task is to give advice, demonstrate when necessary and/or perform mending, adjustment, etc. It's frightening what is no longer taught...sew on a button, create a buttonhole, mend a hem, let out/ take in seams, adjust a garment for bigger/smaller person, darn an elbow hole, change a zip etc. Am left gagging with frustration. However...there is the occasional floor show. A couple of years ago we took our RC to a neighbouring commune....an elderly couple were there who wanted us to repair their shoes...the uppers were like crocodile jaws, looming open to reveal their socks. No go!

No way are we the only Country to have this mutant ... I suspect that it is going to show in other places soon if it hasn't already.

LOL. Great image.
