Blackpool has one of the best beaches in the UK.
Seven long golden miles of perfect sand. You can really see it at its best out of season on a winters day.
If I turned the camera round & pointed it the other way it would still show the beach.
Here you can see the Pleasure Beach with The Big One rising up into the sky & beyond it in the distance Blackpool Tower & the Central Pier.
I almost posted this in black & white but changed my mind at the last minute….I was always a colour person.
Three good things:
1. A nice walk to the village this morning for some buns & a custard tart.
2. A friend popped in this afternoon.
3. The final of The Great British Bake Off tonight.
Oh dear Julz so sorry to hear that….you have such massive waves pretty much all the time whereas our beaches in Blackpool have very small waves unless it’s very windy….it was very calm that day even at this time if the year. They do get big storms too though.
What a great shot of Blackpool. Is the Big Dipper still going. I remember nearly giving my Mum heart failure when I coaxed her into riding on it with me when I was about 10.
@onewing The Big Dipper is tame stuff now Babs, the ride you can see there is called The Big One & is twice as big &high. It opened in 1994 & for a couple of years was the highest & longest ride in the world…..terrifying !
Lovely shot and scene. Have been to Blackpool once, the day was dreary and the promenade deserted. It must have been Autumn or even Winter and I was disappointed.
@sangwann well you can easily be disappointed in Blackpool Dione…..it’s had its best days before foreign holidays but on a lovely hot sunny day you can’t beat it.
