Well I have done nothing much today except watch our new king crowned.
Even if you aren’t a Royalist you can’t but be impressed by this amazing spectacle of pomp & ceremony which we do so well.
I enjoyed every minute so has to be a photo of this historic day.
The troops were practised to within an inch of their lives….congratulations & well done to all involved.
I do vaguely remember the Queens coronation in 1953, a very blurry black & white scene on a neighbours TV.
it was a spectacular event for sure Pat, Did you do your oath of "God save the King" ? I felt sorry for Harry, on the third row, behind his Aunties big feather and then not invited to Buckingham Palace
I bet he never thought this day would dawn. I remember the Queen's coronation. I would never have thought it would be 70 years before we saw another coronation.
I'm loving seeing everyone's pictures of their own particular Coronation Day. I loved some of the images on screen of the bearskins - quite incredible in their uniformity and I loved the Royal Salute in Buckingham Palace Gardens. Dad and I had a lovely day watching all the pomp and ceremony on tv, and dad had his 1953 memories too. He was 20. I have a photo of him and his friend in a marquee tent at the Drum of Wartle. I may post it tomorrow!
The scene really stands out on your TV screen. I confess to not liking pomp and spectacle but what a disappointing damper the English weather turned out to be!
@jamibann The salute in the garden was one of my favourites too! I was eleven at the last coronation but so much to see this time! Glad you enjoyed it & how lovely for your dad to share the day! You will remember yesterday in years to come! Good for you!
No I didn’t do the oath Phil, thought it unnecessary but I enjoyed all the military etc! Yes he was behind Anne’s big red feather!
