This is the same stretch of the river pictured in my other photo but in the summer. A few years ago we had a problem with cows getting stuck in the mud & we came to the conclusion eventually that one of the other cows was bossing the others about.
Three times in one summer & it had never happened before, someone rang the Fire Brigade to come & get a cow out of the river, it was most embarrassing,& even made the local paper !!
The Fire Brigade were brilliant & never charged us a penny...said it was god training !!! We did send them a donation & some cow halters for future rescues ! You can see Brian in the blue tee shirt at the head of the cow & William & Alex & friend watching .
They certainly came out in force!! It's quite a whopping river - must be scary when it's in flood. I went to get my camera out of my bag today & it wasn't there - hence the home photo!! I hate that sinking feeling!
Did this photo make the local paper?!! If it didn't, it should have. Three in one summer can get to be a bit much .. didn't know that other cows could be so bossy! But then, what do I (a town girl) know?!! Great photo, Pat.
