This little lady was just coming out as I pressed the shutter & she was most upset that she had spoilt my photo little knowing that she actually put a bit of interest in the picture . The carving all over this front wall is a real feature.
A miserable day with drisley rain, Harry & I went to M&S for a bit of lunch, he bought a tee shirt from Fat Face & he bought me a lovely cotton sweater, cream with a few blue stripes across it , will be nice to put on in the evening in NZ. I was pleased with my gift !!!!
Goregeous front entry into this church! Love your architecture in England, Pat. Indeed, the little lady does add to the photo. I miss Marks and Spencer too! Such well-made items. I'd love your drizzly rain! Love the mood that it brings (just me and my quirks!) Are you going to NZ soon? Hope that you stay in touch with us. :)
Now Pat - is this St Wilfred's in Preston? I'm sure that was Lark Hill's local but I thought it has been falling down and they'd converted it into a sports centre. Well I'm making assumptions now - maybe she's been doing aerobics - or I'm mixing up my churches. The architecture is amazing - it looks more like Italy than Lancashire. There care so few Catholics down here that the Catholic church is referred to as 'The Catholic Church' and everybody knows where fit is - mind you they built it very tall to make a point! There is another modern one but it's a hotbed of the reformation and Oliver Cromwell was born up the road so mostly they have services in other languages!!
@judithg No this church is in full working order & very busy Judith. You know the top of Winckley Street as it meets Fishergate ,,there used to be a shop called MacFisheries on the other corner opposite the church well it's there through the gates. Lark Hill would be at the other end of town more the Church street end.
Oh I wish we had a tee shirt shop called Fat Face! That's sensational. What a great pic -and I agree that this lady adds interest to the door. What intricate carving/art work.
