Eight of us on our walk today, five & a half miles so I am well exercised this week!!!!!.
We alternate between a Monday & Saturday so that those that have to work weekdays get chance to come with us.
Of course I am always at the back using the camera then rushing to catch up!
We had a picnic lunch in Miller Park & a coffee & cake in the new Pavilion cafe in Avenham Park.
A bit of a rush to get off this morning as I had B&B's in but I fed them then I left Harry to come to the rescue to clear up when they had finished eating.
Hmm - is this what we used to call 'The Mile Walk' to Preston? It looks stright enough but also more rural than I remember so I'm confused! Lovely perspective leading off so far in to the distance.
@judithg This bit took us over the old tram bridge in the Chorley direction Judith. Nowhere near there mind you but it took you over to the other side of the river from Avenham Park. We actually passed & saw my old playing fields with a tiny hut where we used to change....it looked tiny!!! A skull & crossbones daubed all over the outside!
@happypat Oh I think it may be where I am thinking of - I'll have to ask my mum. We used to play down there at the Lostock Hall end but weren't allowed to go all the way in to Preston as it had a bad reputation - as my friend found out to her cost when she tried it and ended up unconscious in a ditch (could have been worse of course). I'm making it sound really dangerous around Preston - I think it's the perspective of being a teenage girl and having to take precautions! At least you got to go to the playing fields - we were stuck with a hill and a netball court - I don't think Sr Gabriel wanted us to waste time on sport - she'd have a fit now because Newnham College has a really good reputation for sport and works with a lot of young footballers I believe!
@judithg I was amazed to hear that Preston has some sort of graded award to say that the city is a safe & pleasant place to go into in the evening...not tested that out but was reassured somewhat although our grandchildren always go into Lancaster if out in the evening. I don't want them to end up in a ditch!!!!! Sister Winefreda was quite keen on sport as long as we didn't show our knickers!
Crumbs what an energetic weekend you've had.well, two days of it!! Too funny you two comparing your schooldays!! we wore shorts that looked like skirts and were measured at the beginning of term regulation4" above the knee, no more and thick knickers with a pocket! ha ha ....
Beautiful shot Pat, of course, love the contrast of leaves on the tree and on the ground and the depth. So nice to be out and about with agood group and of course to have Harry to help out!
this is a great shot - very like my small walk this afternoon. 5 and a half miles is none too shabby - you're deserving of a large glass of wine and some naughty pudding tonight!!
@fannyb 4'' above the knee, never would have been allowed so short!!! we had to kneel on the floor & the length had to be level with the floor!!! I am not the least bit stiff thank you Fanny, in fact I feel all loosened up & raring to go!!!
