Only sixteen ducklings arrived this morning....I think one has met a sticky end.
The rest are all growing fast & getting more of a handful to manage for mum every day.
A couple of years ago I watched a pair of moorhen working so hard to build there nest. Swimming backwards and forwards with bits of twig and leaves to lovingly construct their perfect brooding home. Then the sat for, three weeks or so incubating the eggs until they hatched. Then each day the number of chicks dwindle away until the parents were left with nothing for all their hard work. Its nature but it's kind of sad too.
Aaww , so sorry about the missing one -- hope the rest will stay safe and out of harm's way -- Nice capture Pat -- love the way they all keep in the shade
Hope they survive and do well!
