Bottleneck

This very short pice of road in our village has been shut for 5 weeks now while they tile & mend the roof.
There are four house here....really characterful buildings they are too but have been neglected & left to decay by the very elderly doctor that lives there.
Now a relative has taken over the refurbishing of the whole place which will be good but the whole of the village has been in chaos for five weeks.
All traffic has been redirected around the other narrow roads....a bit disconcerting meeting the school bus scraping past other parked cars.
I took this as I came out of the hairdressers which is on the right.
It cost the owner £2000 but where that money has gone you ask me.....council coffers I would think & they have only provided three diversion signs!
The other side round the corner had to be done too but the scaffolding is in the garden there.

The cars all belong to the workers & are parked there all day.
Great black and white photo.
A little village can't cope with diversions in the way a larger town can. We had a similar issue here a couple of years ago.

5 weeks? They did our roof in 5 days. Bit of a nightmare - they must be a bit embarrassed!

This would be good for the B&W challenge that is somewhere about! I wasn't Dr Finlay by any chance, was it?

I like how 365 records day to day living - even the day to day nuisance of roof repairs.

Nice shot, it really tells a story. Won't it be wonderful when it is finished though. I agree with Maggiemae you could tag this bw-fn-4 for the architecture theme.
