NYC welcome by happypat

NYC welcome

A long very thorough entering USA process ended for us waiting in the entrance for the shuttle bus. I loved the mural on this wall.

The journey through Queens took much longer than we thought but it was good to be in America & see the different places connected to the familiar names we had heard so often.
The actual sight of the skyline was very exciting.
It is a great mural, and some very fatigued travelers as well! Was this your first trip to the US?

@cejaanderson Yes Jane our very first time.....what a city.......so exciting but I couldn't stand the pace for long! We did loads of stuff in the two whole days & two half days we were there.

The tiresome part of traveling, especially since 9/11 and all the security measures. But I'm so glad you had fun in your 2.5 days in NYC. Love the energy in that city!

It's a tedious but necessary process going through immigration! Glad you enjoyed your visit to NYC. Nice capture with the mural.

So glad to hear you had a great holiday. Lovely mural. Look forward to the photos of your travels. I am still wading through the photos of my 2 weeks away too, so you will be seeing those for a while.

@peggysirk @helly31 Well going home was remarkably easy....we did the DIY check in & sailed through! Right,y so you are keen to screen anyone coming into USA. We were very quickly through customs in the UK too.....all chip & pin now if you have the modern passport.

I always think the airport is the worst part of any journey but this doesn't look too bad

How wonderful - while you wait for long periods, you have something to look at! Even without shoes!

I'm so jealous, my dream was to go this year but won't be able to now.

Tortuous would be another word for 'thorough'. I'm all in favour of thorough I just wish they'd have more staff - it always seems very unkind to make people wait for over an hour after a long flight with no consideration for the ages of the passengers (at both ends of the spectrum). Anyway - I'm trying to remember how we arrived in NYC from JFK - think it was by taxi - but you're right - it is exciting!

Great mural. If you added up all the time my husband has spent going through US security it would probably be weeks rather than days.

@judithg We were quite lucky to be off our plane & into customs pretty quick just as a large plane load arrived. The queue was really long for the finger printing bit then just as we got to the top of our queue half the inspectors up sticks & left their posts. We couldn't believe it! There must have three hundred behind us! So officious too as ours are too sometimes! Different matter in NZ where they are invariable cheerful & welcoming!

@dh I can believe it Delena.......not the best place although going home it was fantastic.....we checked ourselves in on this screen & cases were away in no time! One & a half hours flight delay though but made up time on the flight. Worse flight I had ever had late & lots of turbulence plus crying babies! Good job it was only six& a half hours long!
