We went to Lake Placid NY for the day last week. It is a beautiful area of the Adirondacks but this had to be the high point for David (and myself to tell you the truth!) This is the hockey rink where the USA beat the Soviets in the Miracle on Ice game at the Olympics back in 1980. David remembers watching the game live. (I don't. For some reason hockey was not on my radar as a 9 year old girl...) They let you walk around the arena all you like - there were even hockey teams practicing while we were there. It was a really neat experience. You can still feel the history in that room - even 31 years later. I highly recommend it if you're a hockey fan - or even just a fan of the underdog!!
