A challenging journey ahead

This is the entrance to an old railway tunnel on the former Bedford to Hitchin railway line - closed in 1963. It is now home to bats, teenagers and one or two abandoned cars!

It is nearby where I spotted all the wildlife last weekend, and once again watched hares this afternoon. My hare photo today is passable as I was able to get a lot closer, but I felt that this one was more interesting. I popped the light back in at the end of the tunnel from an almost black photo taken from the entrance; otherwise it is untouched. I like the juxtaposition of the old car lined up at the tunnel entrance as if wanting to make the journey.
Wonderful combination of returning to nature with the graffiti adding a nice touch.

What a great find. It would be interesting to take a closer look in the tunnel.

It is a wonderful collage of a photo. So many interesting bits to explore. The light at the end of the tunnel is perfect. Fav!

This is a really interesting shot Helen, I like this a lot. I would be leery of even peeking through that dark window :)

Interesting to see this graffiti in such a natural looking area.

Love the shot, but a big nope to going in there. Please, don't tell me you went in.

@taffy @flowerfairyann thanks for your comments. It certainly seems to be an unusual context for the graffiti. But then again, being a railway tunnel - perhaps not so.

@onewing I did poke my head in - much litter and some more graffiti. Not so inviting I agree @noko411 and my husband wasn't up for a wonder to the other end!

@gaylewood @paulavdmerwe thank you so much Gayle and Paula.

@kerosene A peek is as far as I ventured. The previous week I didn't even make it down to the cut as there were too many teenagers and I didn't think I would blend in very well!

@daisyditch Daisy I tried allsorts of ways of integrating the shot from the entrance which showed the light and some of the graffiti internally, with this one from the exterior. But they didn't seem to add anything much, so I just 'borrowed' the light at the end. Thanks for your interest!

This is a kind of shot I love, lots of detail and messiness and texture and grittiness, well seen and a fav for me!
