This was the day on our trip when we were supposed to relax and take it easy by the coast. So we donned our walking boots and took a tuk tuk from Kep to the Kep national park, whereupon, having decided that we didn't have time for the designated circular walk, we devised our own circular route.
This is a shot from the hill looking past the thick jungle forest to the coast of Thailand. Soon afer, the rain fell and we were sliding our way through steep narrow paths and clinging to trees to keep our balance. Having seen the size of the spiders that created webs between the trees earlier on in our trip, we were very wary as to what might land on us or what we might step on as we made our way through the undergrowth. It most certainly felt like an adventure and the locals who picked us up when we eventually found our way past the old reservoir dam and on to the main road, thought we were mad.
Part way along the route, was a little budda tucked away in a hollow tree and the following words:
"if you can not find a friend, wise, ready to walk with you, resolute, constant, walk alone like a king, after a conquest. or and elephant in the forest."
I was certainly glad not to be alone on that journey.
Beautiful photo Helen, what a gorgeous scene! I enjoy your text to accompany it as well... I will catch up on the rest of your beautiful shots soon, but I am glad you came back :)
