Growing wings

Something had been hatching on the stone ballestrade on the river over the bridge and I decided to use it on a half and half composition yesterday.

Nothing seemed to fit the bill today as I was experimenting with the camera. Well, at the time when I had found something, I was getting an error recording message, so kind of gave up - since it was raining - again.

Excellent half and half. Not sure what it is, but it certainly has pretty wings!

Excellent. As soon as I saw this I thought it would be great for the half and half theme.

@shylaine3304 thanks Erika
@wag864 I was seeing more today but this one seemed unusually placed
@olivetreeann Rachel says it is a mayfly and it looks like she is right. Prior to its flying stage.
@redandwhite thank you very much Catherine
@onewing we all have half and half firmly in our brains by now
@rvm thank you Rachel. I've just looked that up and read a bit more - so much appreciated.

Well spotted! I checked online for 'mayfly' because I'm not familiar with them and it says they are also known as 'fishflies' in Canada. We have fishflies at Lake Winnipeg in Canada when we're there for the summer. I didn't recognize this one as being a fishfly. They don't live very long and when the adult fishflies 'hatch', they come onto land in enormous numbers. Our cottage is close to the water and we aren't very happy when the fishflies appear because they are a total mess to clean up. :-)
