Homage to the voters

Apologies for the absence of late, things haven't quite been going according to plan.

I could spend a long time explaining the symbolism of my post, which is commentary on the state of play following yesterday's voting in the UK. But I elect not to.

Draw your own conclusions, or just think of it as an attempt at the artist challenge (if that is still running).

Atleast I got the camera out!

Big Smile. I want to say sorry about the political situation... but I'm too embarrassed about ours.

Life can go that way sometimes- but it's good to just keep pushing through.

What can I say. I think the state of the UK and the USA is enough to make everyone depressed at the moment. Hope Australia doesn't follow suit down the slippery slope into the unknown.

Well, I have to agree with Stef and Babs . . . I'm totally embarrassed and depressed by our current political situation. Just when I think it can't get any worse, I turn on the news and discover it can. :-(

Blurred world. However, I am an eternal optimist. Tomorrow isn't written yet. (She says with optimism - lol)

I can no longer listen to the news. It is not good for my peace of mind. But taking photos keeps me distracted as I look for the beauty around me. Good luck to everyone in the USA and UK and elsewhere.

Hi Helen, the challenge has finished. I do understand your picture though, things are blurry and the way forward is not clear, all we can do is wait and hope.

“There is neither happiness nor misery in the world; there is only the comparison of one state with another, nothing more. He who has felt the deepest grief is best able to experience supreme happiness. We must have felt what it is to die, Morrel, that we may appreciate the enjoyments of life. Live, then, and be happy, beloved children of my heart, and never forget, that until the day God will deign to reveal the future to man, all human wisdom is contained in these two words, 'Wait and Hope.”

From the mainland of Europe, from the Netherlands, we look astonished and amazed at the things that happen in the UK as well as in the USA. You could laugh at it if it was not all that serious.

In the US we've long since moved on from reacting to those who just didn't, don't and never will understand. They're now a predictable constant and are dealt with as such.

I like the softness and blur of this shot.

Thank you everyone for your careful and thoughtful comments. I don't take your engagement for granted and much appreciate this. I thought perhaps to explain a little of the metaphor behind the image here. The poppy, one day a drooping and sad head, the next in full bloom and colour, represents the revived labour party. no sooner showing its true colours than being blown about in the wind and showing the fragility of the voter's mark on the paper. The scene is indeed blurred and confused. Soon, as the harsh environment continues, it will be gone, And yet there are more waiting in the wings. For each bloom distributes further seeds and with the right nurturing and fertile ground, there will be full colour once again. (or something like that!!!)

@stefneyhart what a mess eh?
@olivetreeann yes you are right - after a pause to reflect and adjust - we keep on pushing through as you say.
@onewing indeed. I think you have your own minds and don't follow US and UK. So you should be ok!
@gaylewood that is how I feel too. But getting depressed doesn't help and a realisation that it is still possible to go on representing your own true values in your own life helps me.
@wag864 Im so glad to have optimists around me!
@gardenfolk I so agree. Taking photos has really helped me from sinking deep at times.
@stephanies Thank you so much for the interesting and thought provoking quote. Im sorry I missed the challenge - I had hoped to do more with it but the timing didn't work well for me in the end. Thank you for introducing me to the artist though and for the fun I did have looking her up and experimenting.
@wenser I am sure that many are indeed laughing. Very serious, although a sense of humour can help.
@fotoblah I guess this saves a lot of ridiculous and hurtful banter on social media!

Thank you all.
