Firstly, an apology. I haven't abandoned you all, but I am struggling to keep up. I will find time eventually.
This weekend, we have been in Cookham, celebrating my aunts 80th birthday. There was a rare gathering of cousins and some of my usual style family dysfunctional antics to complicate the proceedings. Just how my husband puts up with it is beyond me.
Now the tale of proceedings would be too long to tell, but if I just say,it involved:
two missed trains,
a mobile phone not switched on,
family arriving at four separate times rather than the appointed 12noon,
over 100 whatsap messages between us during the afternoon,
messages from three of us at various times that said "I'm sitting on a bench by a war memorial"
several "I'm unbelievably confused" statements,
I think you will have a fair idea of proceedings.
We (well four of us anyway) ended up at Cliveden House for a couple of hours and here are my husband, one of my sons, and my father trying to read some writing on the wall of the house. My brother helpfully suggested at one point, that we might take afternoon tea here. It boasts, apparently the most expensive afternoon tea in the world

I was leaning over the balcony to try and catch these three equally spaced. (It was pretty much a miracle to have them all in the same spot to be honest - we had only just found Dad after the second time of being 'lost', and they certainly do not co-operate when it comes to photo opportunities). It would not have been sensible to have leaned over any further so I had to be content with this.
Congratulations if you got to the end of this ramble. Medal awarded.
your extremely hectic day had a fabulous result, in this outstanding candid family portrait..
@judithdeacon how very reassuring. Although i dont think my boys would agree that we are a typical family!
@kali66 thanks for the comment Kali. Yes he does, although as a baby and young child he really looked like my side of the family.
@taffy thanks Taffy. I do rather like it now.
@moonmtn always good to keep calm during the antics. i need more practice at that. We didnt take the tea - I would have needed my brother to pay the bill and he hadnt showed up!
@domenicododaro the medal is yours. Thanks for the feedback on the photo.
@dide thank you Diane. Yes better late than never - in meeting up.
@kjarn thank you. I am glad.
@fotoblah they are certainly alike. Temperament too.
@jorlam thank you so much for your generous and careful feedback - as usual.
@haskar thanks so much.
@rosiekind we resorted to the orangary round the back where prices were more affordable! Pleased to amuse!
@ivan Ha! yes.
@helenm2016 thanks for the feedback. I am now convinced that the uneven spacing doesnt matter. I had to lean over a long way to get this but am happy with it as it is.
