Out walking yesterday, a rather large crowd of school girls from the local private school were crossing this bridge, on the wrong way to school. They seemed to linger at the side of the bridge as I was trying to take a photos whilst sitting on the edge of the river bank with legs hanging over the edge and camera stretched out over the water. It took me a while to realise that each and every one of these girls were in distress.
After considering my motives for a while, I stopped to speak to one of the older, more composed looking girls and to offer my sympathies. They had learned of the loss of a friend that morning.
I didn't get the photo I wanted of an uninterrupted span of the bridge reflected in the water.I would have landed in the river before doing so. Im posting two - the other in my extras album - as I cant decide which I prefer.
Reminds me of one of the Chicken Soup for the Soul stories, where you never know what is going on inside a person at any time, which is why it is so important to try to be kind and compassionate to all. Lovely image Helen.
It's interesting to me that so many go to a body of water in a time of crisis. I guess there is something very soothing about water- sound and reflections- it seems to bring peace, doesn't it? I hope the girls found solace here.
Seeing the reflections of this bridge on a larger scale, with the trees too, is lovely Helen. The ripples are making a lovely effect on the water. Sad for the girls.
