As the sun was setting behind me around 5.30pm this evening, I walked by someone poised with their camera and tripod and filters and equipment. Don't worry he said, you wont be in the picture. I wasn't convinced - how long is the exposure I asked. A minute he said. It is strange to think that I will have walked through his frame completely unrecorded.
Well I wasn't going to turn round and take the same view with my handheld at half a second - especially as the black and white theme was unlikely to suit the sunset.
Ahead though, was the moon. And I figured it to be a suitable subject for a black and white image in low light conditions - the challenge for this last week of flashofred in February.
In layman's terms you are too fast for the slow shutter speed. Isn't that funny? Sunsets can actually look quite pretty in black and white, but the streaking condition of the sky has to have some contrast so that it shows up. All that being said, I'm glad you decided to shoot the moon instead because this is a great sho!!! An immediate fav!
Definitely mysterious! Did you do any processing on this image? The foreground looks to be processed but the moon doesn't...just curious. Another excellent B&W for your flash-of-red challenge! Fav! :-)
Gayle, yes I did process the image using one of the photoshop artistic filters (I can not remember which) and yes I did exclude the moon from this treatment.
i should dust off the old bridge camera that i use for moon shots.
