Soaking up the sun by helenhall

Soaking up the sun

It is now four days since I have taken any photos, and I am hoping for some renewed enthusiasm or something that sparks an interest soon. In the meanwhile, here is a Cormorant, taken whilst enjoying one of the short spells of sunshine and optimism that put in an appearance last week.

I did use my phone camera today - that was to record the state of the parcel that had been slung over the high wall to the side of our house and drenched by the torrential rain that fell through the afternoon. The delivery status on-line says "delivered to a secure location". Right. So secure that the package disintegrated as I picked it up off the ground and the large framed picture that I had ordered as a wedding present is damaged. I am amazed the glass hadn't shattered.

On the plus side, I am cheered by the way the picture has enlarged and it looks good in it's classic frame. The company has already organised for a replacement to be sent - and the damaged one can be repaired - I think - and will make a great raffle prize for charity.

I'd be really pleased with this shot if I'd taken it:) I think it's so hard to stay motivated every day of every week. Especially when you're retired and do the same dog walk routes every day!

Fabulous picture of this gorgeous cormorant...you captured every wonderful detail! I really like the look of the water, too. I'm sorry to hear of your delivery issue...we often experience similar issues here...so frustrating. I'm glad the company is handling it well for you.

Perfect timing to catch this beautiful Cormorant soaking up the sun! Such a wonderful pose with the wings completely spread open! Love that turquoise eye! :-)
I'm so sorry you had such a frustrating experience with your parcel delivery. I'm glad the company was so quick to send a replacement.

These birds a re recognisable for their opening wings like this but they are usually so far away, I never see them properly! Super sharp!

I love the detail on his wings.

Good that you got one so close. So well composed. I would have wanted the eye a bit clearer and brighter perhaps: exposure compensation and manual focus maybe?

wow what a wingspan! he looks proud of himself. great clarity here and i like the horizontal stripes of the background water as well. sorry to hear about your parcel :( and that you've been feeling somewhat in the photographic doldrums. just checked out this week's selfie and maybe you'll find some resonance with 'in bloom'?

Great shot. You seem to be quite close to the bird ? Super feather detail especially as it is black...... not an easy colour to capture.
As regards your parcel ..... I hope the delivery person gets told off !!
