There is not much to show, photographically, from our whale watching day on the seas. Surrounded by massive long lenses and expensive cameras I was a little intimidated. We went further and further out to sea in search of whales, and the small boat rocked side to side, up and down, ensuring that things of photographic interest were a moving target in every possible way. All layers of clothing having been employed, we were left still shivering and Mr H, despite all due precautions having been made, was sat, incommunicado, eyes fixed firmly on the horizon - except when his head wasn't over the side of the boat.
Whales? No. But we did see many interesting sea birds, a fine display from dolphins around the boat, porpoise, and a young white tailed eagle trying to fledge the nest.
The crew/guides were extremely knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. As we toured the seas, we stopped to retrieve any bit of floating plastic or debris that might harm the wildlife.
Conclusion: perhaps next time we won't take the 8 hour whale watching boat trip. Half a day would do.
Whales or no whales, I love this photo. I like seeing layers like this in the landscape and usually see them when I am driving and there is no way to stop. The different hues of blue are beautiful. I have enjoyed seeing your holiday photos, even if I have not commented - woefully behind on my commenting.
You may need a packed lunch to get here though.
Love the layers and then just the one sailboat shining in the sea.
