This is the last of my marathon pictures that I will post. Most that I took were as the previous two with runners on - I was convinced that the best image would come from that angle - with the black of the tunnel behind and that trail of light through the tunnel adding a leading line from the top. Trouble was, I was really too far away to get a good image that way and I needed to be lower down. I wasn't going to risk my life by leaning further over the wall. I wasn't really able to pull it off the way I wanted to.
I think it paid to let go of the background here and take this from a more reasonable distance. Whilst Matt is the key runner here, I liked the horizontal line up of faces behind him all running determinedly towards the goal.
I was astonished to find the runners packed so closely together - even at mile 24 of the race.

Yes, getting in tight and close was an excellent idea- it really does make you feel clautrophobic but at the same time there is so much to see in all those faces. Great shot!
