Popped down the end of our street this morning to say hello to a colleague who was doing the 10k charity race. Her strategy was to go right to the very back of the 1000 runners to be away from the crowds. Here at the starting line though, I was amused at the different expressions and actions whilst preparing for take off.
Can you guess from these guys at the front of the runners, who will finish first?
The guy in the wheelchair has a rather determined look on his face. The girl really means business but the guy with his head in his hand doesn't look too confident.
@onewing Ah the guy with his head in his hands came second overall, so he was obviously sorting his head out ahead of the race. Cant find the position of the wheelchair contestant - but not in the top 50 as Ive looked through all the photos. The girl came 14th (second place amongst the women).
thanks everyone for playing along. In addition to the above information, I have discerned that the chap with his arms over his head came in 13th and the relaxed dude on the right with the tattoo came in 15th place. The chap in a blue top alongside him on the right, came in at number 40. Now, I've spent enough time on that - especially as I have no interest in running. My friend finished towards the back but was happy with her time and the money raised for the local hospice and cancer care.
Super capture showing all of the interesting expressions, and it was fun reading all the comments about placement! Anddd...how wonderful of your friend to raise money for local hospice and cancer care!
@helenhall Maybe the chap with his head in his hand was praying, it seemed to have done the trick, ha ha.
Thanks for showing such an interesting photo, so much to look at here.
So much nervousness on display make this such an amusing study! Not sure about the benefits of stretching cold muscles. No doubt they are each going through their own psychological preparations! I always liked to start at the back because of the reassuring feeling that comes from overtaking so many others! I never won, of course, but always enjoyed the experience
