Taking Routes

These roots were taking all sorts of routes across the chalky ground presenting some photographic opportunities for those with good knees!

Thank you for your most generous comments on yesterdays IR rendering of the ancient avenue of trees. The trees in my next few photographs were in a clump around a memorial rather than an orderly row, and their roots were travelling all over the ground. Im not sure why they don't travel downwards - must be something to do with the abundance of water - which was certainly evident on the day of our visit.

Such interesting layers of textures, brought out by your processing. I like how light the "above ground" area is in contrast.

@fbailey Ah - not necessarily so. These roots were on a steep bank and I am standing at the bottom!

I love your pov...your root pictures are so creative...and the black and white processing really does them justice. I can imagine your day out root-watching was quite fun!
